Aravaipa Canyon - Arizona

Very nice pics! I also like the camp set-up. I haven't seen a tent set-up with a stove inside in a long time... And obviously it works great!

Thanks Mathew,

The tent is all based off the Kimberley Kamper trailer that is actually inside all that canvas.

The KK trailer is pretty versatile in the number of ways to set it up from a simple quick & open to the full blown "MASH Unit" with stove like in this camp.

Here's a thread that details mine if your interested:

Brad,
Great shots as always. Makes me add more spots to explore in AZ!

Thanks Colin, Just please leave your cold Canadian arctic air up North were it belongs.

It is a very nice area to enjoy if you get the chance. Spring time would be perfect after the trees have leafed out. The elevation is only around 3500 ft so the summer temps will get pretty toasty. Although if you plan to hike the canyon you will spend a lot of time wading in the cool water so that option is still a good summer choice.

Beautiful shots Brad- I really like that night shot as well !:)

Thanks Joash.

I posted this in the wildlife section but decided to add them here as well since they were captured in Aravaipa canyon.

A Red Tail Hawk.

What a great place. Love the night shot of camp. Particularly like the lantern slung from the high tree branch. cool idea.

Best part about this, a trip report, missing these lately.

Thanks Matt, With the large group (9 guys this year) we do a lot of cooking over the fire. The lantern hung from above helps the cook see what their doing. If the cook under or over cooks the food he could have quite a revolt on his hands. :sombrero:

Since I seem to be adding everything about this trip in this thread I might as well add this other cool point of interest in the area. About a mile up Turkey Creek Canyon that feeds into Aravaipa there is a small cliff dwelling. It was built back around 1300 AD by the Salado Indians.

I should have waited for the tree shadows to move off the roof but you get the idea. :sombrero:
