hey all,

I have a ARB 2000 on order that I scored for 200 bucks. I also ordered a Stingray Low Profile roof rack.. I need mounting options of the DIY variety, I can't afford Fourtreks 90 dollar mounting solution. The rack is very similar to a yakima... And go!

Buy, acquire, steal 14 inches of 1 1/2" or 2"x3/16"steel bar.

Cut into 4-2" long strips and 2-2.85" strips

Bevel end edges to 45 degrees

Weld or have someone weld them into two 45 degree right triangle shapes

Drill holes in the right angle sides to fit the rack on bottom and awning on the side

Mount using appropriate hardware

Dimensions are approximate, I'm drinking beer and watching football :)

I think thats what I may go with. I was wondering if there are anyway to utilize u bolts with it, instead of brackets.... I guess I just have to wait until I get the rack and awning in. Awning won't ship until monday according to the distributor. Rack is on it's way however. Thanks for the response.

show us a top picture of the roof rack mounts, as others have said I would mount to the roof rack rails not the aftermarket basket you have..

It mounts to the stock rof rack using universal mounts... I have no way of mounting it to the stock rails. I think it may be easier to mount it to the backed than not. It came in late the afternoon after I already had left for work, so i'll post some pictures of it tonight.

No, send a picture of the top of the roof so we can see how to build/fab a bracket for you...There should be some screws holding down the oem roof rack rails, that is what you are going to have to mount this off of.

Step one.... Get this
http://www.prolineracks.com/proline-gmr165-rain-gutter-racks.html
Step two, get rid of the stock crossbars.. They will flex with any load in the basket
Step three... Attach the backing plate on the awning to the ends of the new crossbars with L brackets that are 3 bucks at Home Depot that are distanced as far as possible while still holding the basket
Step 4.... Say to yourself.... This was much simpler than I thought

I actually looked today at both lowes and HD and couldn't find any L brackets... May have to fashion those myself. But I do like those cross bars.. Do you run these?

I've ran these bars in the past.. They feel like the thule bars, just a bit cheaper in quality... I had a RTT on them

And I typed in L bracket in Home Depot and this was what came up.....everything you need is here.... Get the thickest one you can find so it doesn't flex or bend.... Mine are 1/8 inch
