ARB 2500 awning issue

Hello I have an ARB 2500 awning mounted to my trailer and I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue...

I have it mounted approximately 5'10" off the ground which is too short for myself being 6'2" so I set it up with it angling towards the trailer.

My most recent trip which happened to be the most rainy trip with it so far I've noticed that it doesn't drain as well as I originally thought it would and it had water pooling on it overnight which cause the material to stretch under the weight of the water...

I've seen quite a few awning mounted this way and was wondering if someone how mounts theirs that way has a solution to that problem...

I was thinking that a telescopic pole could be used to create a high point near the base of the awning (toward my trailer) to allow better drainage? I know it could potentially stretch the material more but its better than 30+ LBS of standing water on it...

Anyone else have a solution?

When it rain, lower one of you adjustable pole. Water should easly drain and you will still have a high corner for head room.

Thanks for the reply

I did indeed have one pole lowered but maybe it wasn't enough. Ill have to try lowering it more then.

How far would you recommend? Lowering it below the mounted awning hight?

Here is a pic of my 2000ARB awning setup in a pretty decent rainstorm. Not the best photo, but you can see that the leg furthest from the camera is much lower to allow the rain to run off.

Here's my ARB4402A in a 2-day rain storm. Before I got the ARB sidewalls I was using a tarp on one side.

yep, if not, you will have what happened to me...

Mine was completely flat all night during a heavy rain. Sometime in the early hours of the morning i heard and felt a crashing down from my RTT... looked out and one of the side extension poles broke and the awning collapsed. This was because i didn't have it pitched to drain properly. It had a small swimming pool just loading up the awning until it couldn't handle it anymore.

OUCH! Water is heavy and those poles won't support much. I have to be very careful setting up the awning as the aluminum attachments can bend easily.
