ARB Bullbar Mods

Thought I would post this up here.

Didn't really like the way the ARB looked where it intersects with the fender so I fixed that, and also added cut outs for the ARB fog light kit.

Very cool...

One thing is most Rustoleum and Krylon satin blacks will match the ARB powdercoating pretty well.

Here are my mods...

1) I increased clearance pretty well but because I had to with a custom front crossmember. On a Gen 3 truck / Gen 2 4Runner if you have solid axle swap then you have to trim this out..

Second is I always looked the look of this added bar up top so I decided to add one to mine as well.

It is a little cheeze ball but I think it will look and work well so I decided to try it... I wish I had a bender but I don't so I used a press:

You can also see how much approach angle was improved here from the first mod:

Third is I modded my bullbar for a M12000 winch which is what I had lying around versus buying a new smaller one. The M12000s are phenomenal so I was psyched to be able to use it.

I also wanted to use the roller fairlead from the M12000 but it was a little off on the lighter bull bar. I had to basically add this clearancing to get it to fit. The added tabs on the bottom to fit the winch actually help with this.

Hope it helps.

They all go off to the sand blaster and powdercoater soon so it should all look pretty good painted up.

Here is the thread with the list of all the mods and more / better pics.

That green Cruiser is awesome. Is that your's?

Great shop! You've really did a nice job on your bumper.

Thanks for posting up all those pictures.

I drove a diesel Nissan Patrol in OZ for three weeks. I loved it. If Toyota brought a diesel into this country, my Tacoma would be history.

Good looking mods to that bumper Dre! and that'll be sweet with the M12000 although it's gross overkill for that little truck.:ylsmoke:

Here's my modded ARB on my Cruiser. It began as a winch bar, but the front winch bracketry was removed. When I add a winch there is still room to mount the winch and a Haws fairlead will work fine still and have better clearance than with the old bracketry. Also, all the lower skirting was removed and cleaned up. MUCH better approach than in the original condition. It's pretty rare that I contact the bumper even on large ledges. The only thing I'd like to change with it is to either relocate the AC condensor or add some protection for it.

Very nice mods. Would modifying Land Cruiser bumper to fit 4Runner will make a sense posting it here?

I mounted my winch controller/solenoid box under the hood and covered the hole so snow and mud wouldn't pile on my winch line and it provided more security for the light attachment bolts.

One more little mod. My winch solenoid box is having some rust corrosion issues so I decided to mount it under my hood this time (not mounted yet). So I wouldn't have to open my hood to get at it (and this plug needed to be replaced anyway) I took this approach...

Last one is the quintessential d-ring beefening... On some models this was added from the factory (for example this photo is a factory ARB Tacoma bar). Others need to be added. I was going to add mine but it is not necessarily needed but not a bad idea. Some Wasatch Cruisers members had these laser cut so they could weld them to their 80 Series Land Cruisers..

Nice. I really want to mount my solenoid box under the hood, but it's pretty tight under there right now. Will have to do some creative thinking here.

Looks familiar...

I have a Solidworks file of the 80 Series weld-on tab somewhere around here. I'll dig through my old school laptop and see if I can find it if anyone was looking to get more made.
