ARB Bumper install frustration

I helped a friend do some welding on his Arb and it felt pretty heavy, would you say in the 130/140lb range for the bumper.

I win!!! Sorry the picture is poor but my Iphone can only do so much when its dark.

I finally figured out how this all comes together by looking at the newer generation Tacoma instructions. The 2005+ ones are great, mine? Not good!

They are so bad in fact I think I might take it all apart again to do the end cap mod and install a winch, and document everything and post up some better directions. Its crazy how terrible they are!

Thank you all for the comments, it helped me not give in and bring it to a shop. I am proud to say I installed it by myself.

Firebear, what is next for you? I just cut some big A** holes in my grill, it took a few beers, but now my HID's fit.

Spent part of today trying to install the ARB foglights in my earlier model 2nd gen bumper- argh! I got one in and it started to rain; it was clear when I started. :( I have no idea how I'm going to get the last clip thingy (top outside) in place. I need someone with tiny hands as I'm not taking that heavy SOB back off. I'll cut the right side out tomorrow morning if it's not raining again. The lights will probably have to wait to be hooked up as I'm sure I'll be out of patience by the time I get the surround in.

I could see that being a big pain. I bought/installed my fogs when I got the bumper. I will be in the same situation soon when I try to get the turn signals out to replace the bulbs because my Tacoma has DTRLs and the amber lights get hot and then shut off. For the longest time I could not for the life of me figure out why the marker/turn signal lights in my ARB would randomly shut off and then come back on. It's going to suck out loud when I get around to doing this.

Great job...that bumper looks good on your rig. My understanding is only the ARB fog lamps will fit in the 2nd gen Taco bumper. Can not use the OEM factory fog lamps. At least that's what ARB told me.

Yep, only their fogs will work.

Yeah their fogs have posts on either side that slot into the plastic housing. The second one went much faster than the first. The steel is actually pretty mild and was easy to cut with a sabre saw and a Dremel cut-off wheel. I think I'm going to replace the bulbs in the marker light housing with some LEDS. The driving lights will be hooked into the factory harness but I'm going to do the anytime mod on them. Overall I think it came out better than I expected though- I definitely prefer the newer look.
