ARB Repair/maintenance

So I have had an ARB Bull Bar for a few years now, and just pulled it off my truck so that I can clean everything out real well, take care of a few rust spots, work on the winch, etc. The powder coating is long since dulled, and there is rust in a few places where the paint has been chipped or smashed away. What would be the best thing to do, sand and repaint just those spots (some in noticeable places), or clean, prime, and paint the whole bumper? Thanks in advance!

You will be hard pressed to duplicate the factory acid wash and powdercoat that ARB does. It's really good. I would recommend just sanding, cleaning and touching up the rust or chips. I'd use Hammerite, POR15 or something similar. If you are concerned with appearance and wanted to paint the whole thing, I would just rough the powdercoat and leave it as a base layer.

Also, what grease for a Warn XD-8000? I just pulled mine apart, and there was some rusty colored water, sand, and lots of really nasty looking grease. Is there anyway to disassemble the drum so that I can clean and grease all the gears inside there? Thanks!

Roger that, I think I'll just touch up the rusted spots, thanks!

My local powder coating shop quoted me 65 bucks to recoat mine in whatever color he stocks (about 50). You may want to check one of those guys out around your area.
For that money, my guy will bead blast the bare areas and lightly blast the good existing PC then go over the whole thing with new. I am doing some modifications to mine (light tabs, antenna mount) and will get it coated after I've done all that and make sure that is all the welding I'm going to do to it.

He is going to do my sliders for 50 bucks each also.

According to Warn, You should use Aeroshell #17

Where did you find that? I looked on Warns website and couldn't find anything. I ended up using Valvoline Velvet, I was told it's good stuff, hope its good enough. I also put high temp RTV around all of the casings, hoping that will help keep the water and sand out. After MUCH work, and MUCH more to come, my bumper will be more easily removed, and so I will be able to service the winch more often (I have two sheered off bolts on the drivers side, so I'll have to do some drilling and tamping tomorrow). All in all though, I am impressed with both the bumper and the winch, considering the amount of time spent in the much and sand :REExeSwimmingHL:

Here. Scroll down to the 7th line in specifications. I know it's specs for the 9k but they use Aeroshell 17 in all the planetary drive winches from the M6000 to the 16.5ti.

I looked them up, and I think they are fairly similar so I'll leave the crimson in there for now, but next time I'll remember the Aeroshell. Thanks for finding that for me!
