ARB Roofrack (Not Touring) with a RTT?

I just got an ARB roofrack, not the touring kind though, and would like to find or figure out if there is a way a RTT can fit inside without mounting up past the bars.

Am I 'S O L' and should look for trading someone, which I dont want to do because I like the closed bar rack style and it comes in handy very often?

Or is there a tent specifically made to have a fold over the rack edge?

I've not seen a tent designed to fold up and over the rack and given the fact such a tent would really have to be rack specific I can confidently say it doesn't exist for the ARB platform. The way I see it you have 3 options, cut your rack down, mount the tent over the rack (bad) or sell your rack and buy the touring model.

You could keep the rack you have and use Thule or Yakima bars mounted across the top bar of the rack, side to side...

If you wish to go this route, I've seen bar adapters from several rack makers. I know that Garvin Products offers a rack to bar adapter for their racks. It would be all but universal for racks with top bars and looking at the ARB rack it would fit with no issues. (And it accomodates both round and square or rectangular rack bars and cross bars.)

While the tent would be raised maybe 5" - 6", that isn't too bad.

SOL Cut it or get a different rack. Do your best to keep the weight as low as possible...
