ARB synthetic gear oil recommendations?

Hi Gang,

I've got around 1200 miles on my new lockers in the XJ, time to dump the dino juice and get some synthetic oil.
As a wandering Nomad I'm in SW Florida and like the fool that I'm, the ARB manual is in N.Y.
I looked on the ARB site and they recommend Shell 90wt. for highway/light off road and Spirax 85-140 for heavy off road/high HP high torque use. The local speed shop here stocks Royal Purple 75-90, 75-140 and 85-140. I'm limited to this as, as usual I'm pressed for time and a place to work on my rig so I gotta do it Monday or Tuesday at the latest...
The XJ is fairly loaded down with a RTT, Jerry cans, spare, heavy bumpers, winch armour, tools etc, etc. The truck is running the D30/Cryco 8.24 combo with 4.10 gears and 31" tires and I do do a lot of highway driving at around 70mph or so.
Recommendations? Thoughts?

Many Thanks!

This is very good synthetic oil. Pick the viscosity according to your projected climate and preferences; but 75W90 will give 2-3% better fuel economy, and that's what I'd use:

Or visit the Redline site:http://www.redlineoil.com/Products.aspx?pcid=4
Those would be my top choices for synthetic gear oil. I use the Delvac 75W90 in my Unimog, Mercedes specifically recommends it:

Royal Purple is IMHO overpriced and advertised for more than what it actually is. In the world of "boutique oils", Redline is considered far superior; reference the BITOG forum.
If you absolutely have to use Royal Purple (you can buy Mobil products at a Mobil distributor, there is at least one in any medium sized city), use the 75W90.

I give another vote for Mobil 1, I have run it in my diffs for 5 years or more. My XJ has an ARB in the D44 rear with over 15k miles on it all of which has been with Mobil 1. My 2 WJ's both have Mobil 1 75/90 in them as well. Royal Purple is overpriced to me, Mobil 1 in the diffs, t-case and oil/filter and you can't go wrong. Juice
