Who here has listened to them?
I was listening in on my Yaesu 857D radio this morning outside of Safeway around 4:45 am waiting for them to open up, and I was scanning the 7 MHz band and I could hear some single side band action going on with it on AM.
I pushed the button to LSB and used the big dial to fine tune the guy in, and he kept repeating "CQ contest, November Seven Alpha Tango."
Others would answer in the distance, but he came in loud and clear.
I pushed the tune button on the radio to tune the ATAS 120a antenna to get better reception, and then he started talking more.
After I came out of Safeway he was still talking, and I listed in on the drive home and in my parking spot.
Googled the call sign and found out it belongs to a club in AZ.

So are these kind of clubs just into DX working of far away stations?
This is the first time I have listened in on a CQ contest before.
