There is an enclosed version of this that has walls for the expanded sections.

The first real issue with the expandable vans is that they require multiple people to set up

Another issue is the seals between all of the various panels

Some of these have asbestos in ventilation ducts

Sorry, really have no idea. Just looked like a fun "home base" set up, that could maybe move around.

I suspect quickarms was posting information to help you avoid problems. :)

I definitely appreciate asbestos warnings.

I was just trying to give you a heads up on these.

If you want a movable home base the trailer with the side walls is a great option, I have thought about it. On that trailer the sides come out like a slide out on a RV and the floor, roof and ends fold.

I know some one who lived in one for years

I was thinking about converting them to regular RV slides

Moving one requires a semi tractor, and you need to keep an eye on the fifth wheel height because the military tractors are taller than the civilian ones

The cost of putting new axles and tires on those trailers just kills any kind of use project.

Why do you think you need change the axles?

Surplus tires are not that hard to get.

The axles are either 6 lug or 10 lug with air over hydraulic brakes

Accuride makes 6 lug 22.5 wheels

On the 10 lug axle you can use stud piloted 22.5 wheels

22.5 trailer tires are readily available and fairly cheap.

If you keep the weight down you could either make it a single axle trailer or single out the tires.

Now if you want to upgrade the trailer used S cam trailer axles are readily available and you could even add air ride suspension

Those are 6-lug, 9:00-20 split-rims. Best of luck hunting down those brake shoes. Gonna convert those wheels to 22.5” aluminum with a match set of retreads? Still gonna cost substantially more than those trailers are worth.

Aluminum wheels on a trailer?

What are you thinking?

The brake parts are common to 2 1/2 ton m35 trucks if 6 lug, or 5 ton military trucks if 10 lug, and very readily available from multiple sources

If you get into a bind the shoes can be relined in Southern California in a few days.

The steel 22.5 6 lug wheels are readily available, and priced the same as used 22.5 stud piloted 10 lug wheels.

22.5 trailer tires are readily available and pretty cheap

Aluminum or steel, IRDGAF, then add up the cost of nine new wheels with retreads, and brakes, axle seals, and a couple of drums, a dozen studs, lug nuts and redoing the rotten air lines, plus the man hours because it’s all going to be a big rusted mess under there and tell me what you get. You get not worth the cost.

IRDGAF, that’s not the truth

This is being advertised as storage, tiny home or shop space not a road trailer.

For a storage trailer it is kind of expensive.

The work you are talking about would turn it into a road trailer.

There are many site trailers that are in a condition that is probably only slightly better than this trailer.

I just retired an set of tires that were from 1989 from a road vehicle.

To move this trailer you should do an inspection.

I have several M146 trailers that are now used for storage and they have been towed on the freeway after we inspected them.

If it was a road trailer you would be looking at a lot more money
