Haha, thanks! I love B&W, but I think it has it's place and works for a certain style, generally more artsy I think...at least that is how I generally use it.

Clark

I agree Clark. I often see people attempting to use B&W as a crutch so to speak. Your shots are really nice and well thought out.

I fall into that category of using B&W as a crutch. Many times if I cant get my white balance right in the camera, I'll just shoot with what ever I can get away with for a proper exposure and change it to B&W in post just to get rid of the obnoxious color casts.

There are times like what Clark was doing, that I can see an image and already see it in B&W and shoot it from that angle, but not all that much.

This shot in Canyon de Chelly was one of those images I had preconceived in B&W trying to mimic Ansel Adams famous image of this exact scene

Good shot and how funny I took the exact same shot from the exact same angle with the sun shadows in the exact same spot about 6 years back. Really odd.

Definitly love to see those 2 images side by side!!!

I have gone back to look at past images before I had Silver Efex to see if I like it better than my color version. I preach proper exposure pretty hard though. The best images IMO always start with a plan and a good exposure for that scene.

A couple from over the weekend. All of my albums on Picasa seem to have disappeared (to say I'm annoyed is an understatement) so I hope this works...

I'll 2nd Brads comments on two accounts. Both awesome images, and Smugmug is beyond user friendly, has amazing customer service and will make storing, selling and showing your images a breeze
