Pretty neat lightning storm off the Gulf last week. Made for a cool scene at 3:30am standing in the bed of my truck getting eatin alive by mosquitoes

The combination of the street lighting, spooky looking building, and lightning storm over the water in the background really pulls this together. Nicely done Pat. :victory:

I'm dying for some good lightning opportunities. We have been getting some good storms but they have been during the day and our nights have been pretty quiet. Soon I hope. :sombrero:

Pat, that is a great photo. I don't think people understand great pictures require a lot of dedication as well as cool gear. You have it!

Thanks Brad. Funny part is I got this image captured, then tried something I normally never do. I opened it in Topaz Labs Adjust 5.0 and applied an action called Gritty, which is why it looks so funky. I called Cindy into the office and asked "What do you think of this image?" She looked at it for a minute and said "Un-apply that action and it will be a great shot."

I felt the same way thinking it was too over the top, but I went ahead and uploaded it to Facebook just to see what others thought. It ended up being one of those images that has multiple shares, almost 200 Likes and 60 some-odd comments with everyone saying how much they like it. So I guess every now and then we shouldn't listen to our instincts. I also had it printed as an 8x10 along with some other lightning shots just to see how they printed on paper before we'd order any larger prints. I had the images out at the tiki bar the other night and everyone was going crazy over this shot. I ended up selling it to some guest who wouldn't take no for an answer.

Thanks Jay!!

Hi Pat, I could tell you applied some form of post processing artistic tweak but I liked the effect. For some shots, stepping into that world just seems to work. Others not so much. I personally liked the effect on this image. It gives it that spooky feel that I don't think the original capture would have communicated.

Thanks. I agree. I like to play around with the Topaz settings, but usually tone them way down so the effects are barely noticed. I see some shots that they work great on, and then others that I think "Man, you ruined that shot!"

Here is almost the same scene, well same pose, but different lightning obviously, but you see the difference in the feel it gives off

Yep, still a great capture that many may like better but doesn't have that spooky feel to it. Both results are great. It just boils down to personal preference. For this one, I vote for spooky.

Got a few more shots processed from my last trip. Seems all the best shots were from one location.

Awesome shots of Mono Lake Aaron! Probably one of my favorite places in the United States.

Love those early morning, calm shots when the lake is a pane of glass

Here is one that is Artistic, Well Thought Out, Framed, Sexy and Still PG-13 which I know is a requirement of this forum! The only way I can think to beat the summer heat!
