Thanks Trevor!

One of the Portal Members (Dave Eisenbiel) has been here in Cedar Key for the last week while on his Road Trip from El Paso to Pennsylvania. We've had some great talks about travel, photography and shared some beers around the tiki bar.

The morning before he left I took him out on the boat for sunrise. While I was piloting the boat, we had a group of dolphins playing in our wake. Dave was standing beside me shooting and snagged a killer shot of this dolphin out of the water.

That's his camera in the right side of the frame. My shot is somewhat lame since I was just holding the camera backwards over my shoulder shooting blind, but it was an awesome experience

Here is Dave playing with my 400 f/2.8 while we were watching the baby pelicans in the nests

More than a few big gators on Jekyll.....

They surprise some tourists walking the ocean side surfline at night sometimes.

That's ok. I'm sure very few of the tourists were born n' raised in Louisiana. :)

Just looked up Jekyll island... not the one I was thinking of. I've been itching to sea kayak the Georgia barrier islands while doing some beach camping. May try for late fall this year...

Nice dust storm captures Photoman. I was in the 'burbs when that one rolled through, and while not as powerful as a full blown haboob ... it still made for a dusty mess.

While in Colorado earlier in July we experienced daily thunderstorms and monsoon rain (every afternoon for two weeks). This storm, passing through in the wee hours of the morning, was particularly active and I managed a dozen or more lightning strike "keepers" in just 15 or 20 minutes of shooting.

I liked this one for both the "point of entry" light in the cloud and the way it appears to be hitting the house (although the strike occurring on that side of the frame also puts a bit too much weight on the image's right side, IMO). Streaks of rain and the fact it was pitch black outside also created some unusual smudging between the clouds and ground (it looks like processing or burning, but isn't). This is looking almost due west from the plains toward the Rockies, which run left to right (in frame) and are normally visible from here beyond those rain streaks.
