at trailer wheel switch question

Ok, sorry but I have to ask the dumb question and don't mean to upset anyone.

:peepwall:

But with all the big bucks spent on the JK 4 Door why not ditch the old Jeep and upgrade it to a JK 2 door as well. :Wow1: :Wow1:

Yes, I know it is the big $$$ route but you have spent big $$$ already and the old one is fairly stock ????. That way no changes to the trailer and ready to rock in two great Jeeps. A common platform is more logical ?????

I have an issue a little the same, 2 vehicles with 5 on 4.5 and one with 5 on 5, while the trailer is 5 on 4.5. Future plans are to move to 5 on 5 with the trailer due to that being the newest vehicle and most likely main tow rig. However I will not swap back if I use one of the 5 on 4.5 vehicles. The AT was purchased in 2003 to work with my Rubicon (Hemi 2006) but will be replaced by my Cherokee diesel for all likely future trips. However I am planning to make some trips with my AT behind my Hybrid Escape which will be a whole new experience.

Short of any reason other than limiting or increasing the number of spares why the hub swapping ???? Do you suffer many flats or expect to ????

money my overland friend- its about the money....perception is not what its meant to be-
the new jeep and the trailer was being at the right place at the right time while deployed which equals that i was selling on the side in iraq internet service. 60 users x 100$ a month x 13 months plus selling a loyal samurai + pinzgauer + suzuki vitarra = at jk and tj and now trying to explain to my boss why i need a raise for my hobbies.

I am trying to figure out what your idea is here. Are you changing the entiore set of wheels or are you just wanting to use the TJ spare on the AT trailer? If the JK and AT match then you only need a one way adapter to take the TJ spare and use it on the trailer. Maybe you should just put a spare on the AT.

Rear swing away tire carrier $695.00 might be one reason Rock doesn't want to go that route.

Flats on trailers are not common and most punctures are repairable with a plug kit and compressor. So although the odds are low I don't think there are many of us who are willing to risk traveling without a spare.
