Ausie sliding rear windows for Disco?

New suspension has forced the rear seat out of my Disco. (Kings up through the floor) and I've mounted a Jeep fold and tumble rear seat in the back of the truck.

I'd like to do something so the back windows could be opened. Any suggestions?

I was thinking I could take the window out and build a simple frame out of wood that holds two sliding pieces of glass or plexi... To much of a pain?

Thanks

, J

Heya, the only issue I would think needs to be considered is if this mod is going to be road legal... mayb you need to get some advice on this before spending too much time/effort/money on it.

You got any pics of the disco? :)

Jason...I don't know who your talking about.... :)

Been good brother, honestly. Trying to clean my act up. I bailed on Chi-town almost two years ago and have been hiding out in Florida under the name "Mike Honcho." Guess I've been doing a good job, most people still think I'm up there!

Got a bunch of stuff going on... Big-*** is being reborn via the Speed Network and Truck-U their TV show. Gutted her and dropped about 5,000 lbs. :) She's gonna be ready to roll in the next few months and the plan is to start doing some domestic comps.

Really more than anything I've been focusing on getting my life in and order and settling my career. Did you see my thread in the fire-side chat forumn? I'm not the same old CAT...learned alot the past few years and really changed my ways.

I hope your doing well, I'd love to catch up some time!

Take care bud,

It's all good! Sounds like you're having some fun! Of course you have been having fun!! Hows your Dad!

As promised some pics of the rig... Something for a grin!

Of course had we managed to spend less time at the shop we might have been able to cause more carnage too!!

Nice to see another Outback Challenge veteran on ExPo...

Once I get the businesses structured and I finish South America, I will be back in the drivers seat...

Good to hear from you man... Its been a while. I thought maybe you'd faked your own death and absconded to Central America. But then again, I'm not one to talk.

:shakin:

I'm not sure if you're just looking to add a bit of ventilation to the back, but if so, you could always replace the fixed rear windows with a lever out set up like they put on the back side windows of suburbans. It'd get the job done without sacrificing too much in the way of vehicle security.

Lol! Look who comes out of the woodwork... I people said I was dead!

I tried to fake my own death but I just couldn't seem to shake the povaratzi! :p

Dad is doing well. Business sucks right now but then again who's buisness doesn't suck right now?

Good to hear from you as well Nathan! Good idea on the ventilation bro, I didn't think about that. It's more for the dogs though, want them to be able to stick their heads out the rear windows... Keith understands!

As for photos...you didn't post the best ones Keith! :) I'll have to add those tonight! The truck is getting some serious **** done to it. The patrol running gear is finally fitted, suspension is totally redone and she's been gutted. Building a custom aluminum dash and all the trimmins. If I learned three things in OZ it was:

1) Light is right.
2) Light is right.
3) If you can save weight by sharing one pair of underwear, you should.

The plan is to get into some domestic Baja style races. I hope to take the truck out there this year. Not to race just to pre-run and mess around getting used to things. Then I want to enter some events competatively. The long term goal is to be back in OZ by 2010 for a re-cap....

Aside from that, if I can get off my *** ever I'm working with Matt from BWO to possibly build a sick *** Defender crewcab with a full lenght 110 hi-cap bed on it. Want to build the ultimate "Earth Roamer" and be the first yahoo to travel the globe on vegi waste from corporate sponsorship from Micky D's!

I'm gonna be out yalls way this year I hope so I'll look you up when it gets closer.

...still gotta figure something out on these rear windows!
