Hi guys,

Just so you know, i noticed that after i "charge" the Supercap2 to 100% and 15V but not use it
it loses it's charge relatively fast over time..
I saw it dropping in voltage after a day to 60% and a 9V and after 2 or 3 days to 30% charge..
So it's not possible to "pre-charge" it at home and than trow it in the car and use that same charge a couple months later for example.
And yes of course it's not a battery, and that's the selling point for the Supercap2
but i was wondering how long it would keep that charge, now i know..

yes inherent in capacitors, they get charged up immediately before use

Think like a little pressure tank on a compressor that has a little leak

I've had a supercap jumpstarter for a few months now and I really like it. It works slightly differently than a normal battery style jumpers, but it also seems to give more of a "boost" when starting that helps with some difficult to start engines. You do need to really make sure the connections to the battery are good for it to work, but other than that I've haven't had any problems with it. They're almost like self contained jumper cables. You can charge it off a "good" car, then carry it to the dead car and jump it, without the cars needing to be close to each other.

Because it doesn't keep a charge very long I still carry the normal lithium jump starters on trips, but around the house this is the one I use most often. I don't remember how many cycles the capacitors were rated for, but I do remember that even if I needed to jumpstart my car every single time I needed to drive for the rest of my life, I still wouldn't wear it out.
