Awning mounting?

I have a 79" bag awning (TJM) on order for my 1999 4runner which will be fitted to my whitson metalworks rack.. Now, I've seen them mounted to either the driver or passenger side but I'm unsure which will work best for me.... At this point, I'm thinking passenger because it just feels more natural. What I want to know is where people have them mounted and why they chose that side

I do have a Gobi rear ladder on the driver side so that'll probably balance things out if it's on the passenger side

I have mine mounted to the passenger (right hand) side because that side of my camper has a windoor, the othe side has a slider. My tire carrier is hinged on that side and when it swings out, it creates a defined space.

I have mine mounted on the driver side but it swings out to the rear of the vehicle where I do most of my cooking and beer drinking.....

Keep them coming..... Someone told me that they had mounted theirs on the passenger side to avoid the chime that comes with keeping the driver's door open

Think I'm gonna go with passenger

Seems campsites are more passenger side oriented. At least that's been my experience whether backing in or parking alongside in a one way loop. Really, I think it's just a mentality of having it on the "curbside".

I am considering drivers side, as I have a RTT with annex that I will flip to passenger side. Still waiting on my gobi rack though for final install. Seems like flipping to passengers side was smarter in case I pull to the side of the road for a quick nap :)
