awning - NE USA

Looking for an inexpensive/generic awning to mount on my rack and try out before I decide how much I'll actually use it and then start the search for something obviously overkill like a batwing, etc.

Anybody have an awning collecting dust you'd like to sell me? Tractor supply has one I might get if this doesn't work out.

If you are thinking batwing why not just get it and save yourself the cost of something you really don't want and put that money toward the wing? I would be willing to bet if you get the wing you will use it.

i know you are looking for a commercial product, but this cost $130 for a silicon impregnated poly tarp and some adjustable poles from bass pro. being in the ne, you have some nasty weather and heavy rains like we do in the se...those commercial ones dont give you the 'hunker down' option for unexpected rain. setup and take down is easy with a plan and a little practice.

and a $10 promo for being an AAA member, wow thanks for the tip!

You are welcome. I bought one last week, well worth the price. I've read in another area of Expo that they are better constructed than the ARB version. I can't compare because I've never owned the ARB version. Planning to install it on one of my trucks tonight.

I don't doubt they are a good value but reading both descriptions they are not near the quality of fabric.

I'm in Raleigh and about ready to sell my Foxwing (precursor to Batwing) for $350 or so. In great shape and I have all original parts. I'm upgrading. But it will be local pickup...

No doubt the fabric is different. ARB uses PU coated poly/cotton 300GSM and the NAPA awning uses polyester ripstop 220GSM. Different, but not sure about 1 being better than the other.

from everything I could find PU coated poly/cotton is superior to polyester and the material is a fair amount thicker. Of course I was just google searching and have not compared the two in real life situations.
