Fair point - you gotta be able to reach the zippers! I recently relocated my awning up a couple more inches to better clear the slider door. With a 4" lift, I can just do it at 5'7". Sometimes if I park on uneven ground, I need the foot stool (which the wife/kid need to get into the van anyhow).

I run into the same situation with my Jeep on 38's and about a 4.5" lift with my ARB I'm on my toes almost all the time setting it up!

I use an ARB 2500 on my Jeep and have a Foxwing 270 on my trailer. I love both of them, but prefer the simplicity of the ARB for a quick setup, and the versatility of the ARB awning rooms. I also have 3 tapered walls for my Foxwing, and the Oztent Tagalong for the Foxwing as well. I purchased the Rhino Rack zipper adapter that slides into the ARB awning frame, and then that allows you to run any of the Oztent walls, Tagalong, etc with the ARB awning! Total flexibility!

Thx for the comments, I think I'm going to bolt a piece of angle iron to the top of the wall behind the door and drill holes for carabiners. I ordered a tarp off ebay. I'm cheap. I'll post pix when I get it sorted

May I suggest spending a couple bucks more and going with a piece of aluminum angle, and stainless hardware. Easier to drill, no need to paint and no rust streaks down the side of your lovely trailer.

I have a ARB 2500 on my Ram which works ok if mounted low enough to reach. I picked up a clam quick set pavilion for my trooper. It's a standalone canapy and I got to say it's pretty slick.View attachment 605003 I'm building out my NPR as a camper for a upcoming cross country road trip and thinking about going with a Fiamma f45. It seems that most of my camping is done in inclement, freezing weather (in Northern Alberta Canada). So anything that can ice up and freeze is not going to work (zippers, awning rail, etc). So I did what you are going to do. Put a number of stainless eye screws along the sides of the trailer, bought a solid 10x8 awning fabric replacement off Amazon, installed some grommets into it, and use carabiners between the grommets and eye screws. Have a couple of steel adjustable awning poles (from Cabelas) on the sides, and guy lines to stakes holding them up. Old school. But it works and won't disappoint me when I need it. Plus it's easy to dry after the trip.
