Is there anywhere I can get an Ax/Shovel mount for an SD rack, other than Trek Outfitters?

Or does anyone have any other ideas on what could be used to mount them to the side of the rack? Pictures would be great too if at all possible.

I took 3in by 1/8th strap and bent it into a U shape over the two bars and then tacked a stud and made two of them for my hi-lift. Bet you could do the same with shovel or axe mounts.

Sounds like a pretty neat and simple way of doing it, do ya have any picture by any chance?

I carry one of these instead: http://www.hi-lift.com/handle-all/index.html

I had my Hi-Lift up on the rack for all of a day before pulling it off and deciding not to put any tools up there. It is just too far from the ground on our tall trucks. :D

I think the real problem is you're just too short. Only kidding. :sombrero:

Though I have always liked the 'handle-all'. I just don't want to throw away my brand new shovel I already have. I could really care less about having and Ax up there really.

I'm not familiar with SD racks but the QuickFists just have one hole in them (I think its 1/4"). If you can drill a hole in your racks you could attach the Fists .

pipe clamp and a quick fist is what I would do, it wouldn't have to support much weight as a highlift. I use coleman racing roll cage brackets on the rack for the highlift.

quick fists' have 4 holes for mounting. 1 in each corner. you could use a metal plate on one side of the rack bar and the quick fist on the other and put bolts through and sandwich the rack between them.

The problem I have is that I have yet to find a way to keep my Hi-Lift from clicking and clacking.. knocking and banging... rattling constantly... the damn thing is so loud, I had to take it off and put it in the back of the Disco...

I tried appying rubber pads between the actuator arm... using the Hi_lift rubber damper... but it is the actual "body" of the jack that is the culprit....

Any ideas as to how to quiet these things?

two of the siolators on the handle and a truckers bungee around the jacking mechanism.

I'm using one of the isolators, and the neoprene cover on the mechanism, and it's all quiet for me.
