Ax/Shovel Mount For SD Rack????

I've never really had a problem with my Hi-Lift making noise, actually it's pretty well silent on the side of the rack.

I think I'll be ordering a couple of the quick fist things regardless, seeing as I could easily use them for other applications even if I decide not to use them on the rack since I'm also going to call up RoverRacks just to see what they have to offer.

Sorry no pics, I sold the truck years ago. As far as stopping vibrations, I used shock bushings on the studs.

Well, finally got my shovel mounted to the rack. Went with a homemade solution by just walking around Lowe's and staring at things until we figured it out. Looks great, works great, and cost me all of about $15, if that.

Wow, they have nothing like that at Homey-D (which is the only thing I have for an hour's drive except the world's smallest ACE). Sometimes I miss the city...

Ugh, thats not cool. Funny thing is around here our Lowe's is literally across the street from out Home Depot. It's only a city/town of about 100,000.

Thanks and also what is the part that attaches the shovel to that clamp?

Salve its a split ring pipe hanger (Threaded):

His were the cast ones (non-copper), we painted them black and used some spare heater core hose I had laying around to make some rubber inserts to better grip the shovel (we sized the hangers out to account for this). We also switched out the phillips head bolts they came with to Grade 5 allen head bolts. Not so much for the strength as for the fact that if anyone decided they wanted to take it a phillips screwdriver is pretty common thing for a thief to have...a proper sized allen head bit is not, but it is something we have readily available in the truck at all times...plus the allen head bolts were black :sombrero:

100k?! my god what's going on down there? It seems like Texas is the modern day California. the best thing about Whichita Falls used to be the Whattaburger while passing through looking for gas

Rofl! I know exactly which What-A-Crapper your talking about. Certainly not the best thing anymore. Not to say anything else is all that great here either despite the development and population growth.

But hey, at least we have three Wal-Mart Supercenters within a five mile radius of one another to enjoy. :sombrero:

I see you found a solution already, but I'll offer mine up anyway...

I used the Yakima shovel mounts to put mine on the ladder on the back door.

Here's a view from the left side:

Closer view -- you can see the p-clips I used to mount it:

and the right side, with two more p-clips and the easy-on/off knob:

Got the idea from someone on Discoweb.
