AZ HAM Class Feeler

I am trying to get a class together for a 1 or 2 day class, since all the local classes are 7 weeks long. Since I work 4 on 4 off, I need it to be all in one shot. Any one in the PHX area interested in a Wham Bam class?

I am north of Tucson and would love an instructional class on the ham radio. I am presently attempting to study the book but I would like input from a professional.

Yeah, the class will be tought by a local HAM club president, I think the books and all the goodies will be between $50 - $100 total. My goal is to try and make a 1 day class if at all possible.

Please count me in, as I said I am hitting the book and taking the practice tests so I can hopefully pass the test.
Thanks,
Steve

Wil,
I am leaving this Sunday for the North Rim and won't be back until the 1st. So far any weekend looks good in September except the first one.
Thanks,
Steve

Just an idea for you folks new to amateur radio. If you happen to already own a radio you can program in some simplex and repeater frequencies and take the radio along. Listen around the bands, fiddle with your radio, etc., to learn a little about how it works. If you have to call for help because someone is hurt, you're allowed to do that under FCC regulations (as if anyone cares when their buddy is in danger!)

Of course, if you're really not ready to fiddle with a radio or even buy one, that's understandable. I couldn't wait and had a radio long before I got my license. I just listened a lot (seriously, I did!) and was already pretty good with the radio before I ever keyed-up. :)

Mid Sept. sounds good, I have a Crown King run on the 18th but the rest looks clear as a bell.
Thanks for the info on the radio, I have a HT and am eager as heck to learn the frequencies and all the workings of it. Repeater, simplex are all new to me, never used a radio where I had to deal with those, I just turned it on and said by bit and was off.
Thanks again to the both of you,
Steve

A one day class would likely be too good for me to pass up, even with the new kiddo, I'd make it to phx!
