This area really needs a clean up. Good on them for setting something like this up. I may have to volunteer and join them out there for this. Anyone else interested?

Just scheduled a MAJOR B-day party for all 3 of my young ones for that day.

I will however post a link on the CSC forum to hopefully get some additional volunteers out there.

The "shooting gallery" was an absolute wreck. Several Toyota folks loaned their time specifically to clean that area. One side of the area was a sea of plastic shotgun shells, the other was awash in sheet metal, pallets and target props of all kind. Damned old mess. We hauled out, by my estimate, somewhere in the neighborhood of two tons of garbage. Couches, chairs, entertainment centers, bottle (some squid actually dumped Zima bottles, the horror) if it was crap, it was there. We got as much as we could.

Unfortunately, after four of these cleanups that I have attended, it's the same old stuff. Cars (yes, cars, mostly rolled and stripped), furniture, cheap beer bottles and spent casings. Plan for this area to be closed and subsequently developed when the real estate market picks back up, the scumbags are outnumbering the folks who actually care.

I didn't take any pics, me and my daughter stayed busy picking up garbage. A local Toyota club member went back a few weeks after, reported that it stayed mostly clean after the effort of what seemed to be only a few people. It was actually a bit disappointing for me, I've watched the number of folks out there cleaning dwindle substantially. The first year I went, there was somewhere in the number of 60 rigs and twice as many volunteers. This year, albeit this being the Fall clean up, there was maybe 30 rigs. ******.

Sorry for the soapbox, filthy no account ****************** pigs stand on my last nerve.

Thanks for the update!

I wish I could have been there to help you guys pick up. My hats off to you and everyone who pitched in. :clapsmile :clapsmile :clapsmile

You DO make a difference even if it isn't always apparent.

I was there as well and all in all, it was pretty good. With all do repsect to AZRain, there were far more rigs than 30. I was there from start to finish mostly working the check point with Jim Florence (one of the cordinators for the event) and he commented on close to 200 people total through out the day had helped.

It's sad and can be way frustrating since it will all be back. But at least on that day, a HUGE difference was made. I know there were over half dozen 4x4 clubs represented. The biggest being the Virtual Jeep Club, down to a couple of guys who came up from Tucson. All in all, a nice showing.

The important part, was the impression left on the controling powers. BLM was impressed by the turn out and were very happy to see such a good group.

Thanks for the clarification Hunter, my objectivity was a little clouded by the huge mess at the shooting gallery. I've not seen it that bad, ever.

Good to hear that the BLM was happy.

I totaly understand. Its enough to make you blood presure pop the saftey valve.

I was out there on behalf of the MCSO. I volunteer in the Posse and I wanted to be there to provode a presence in case knuckle heads showed up. And some did but I convinced them to leave. I can only hope they got the point for the day. Several times that day I was able to cruise around and made sure everyone was OK. People were pretty scattered over the whole area, which would definatly give the impression not many showed.
