Azohvc?

I am curious if anyone has had dealings with this organization. Thoughts? I am interested in their strategies for addressing trail damage, tread lightly, historic site preservation, OHV training, creation of new trails, non-street legal vehicles, etc.

INTRODUCTION
The members of this organization are dedicated to the ideals that public domain lands belong to its’ people……… to respect…. to protect……. and to enjoy. This is a right and a trust.
We believe, with firm conviction, that the citizens who rightfully use these lands, in return, have an obligation to uphold this trust – to respect the land and to conduct their activities so that the public interests are protected.
We urge cooperation of all in upholding the rights of the citizens, by the continued use of the public lands in a responsible and considerate manner.
This organization will join recreationists, dealers, manufacturers and OHV supporters together to educate responsible recreation on public lands and ensure access to public lands.

I have never heard of the group, but I do know a couple of the names. Their VP is Jim Florence, known as "Hackle" on the boards. He was leading the run when I did Hiway to Hell awhile back. Good guy. Their treasurer, Sandee McCullen is very active with the state, trying to keep our trails open.

But this group doesn't seem parcticularly active...either that or they simply have not updated their site in almost a year.

I wonder if it is somehow a spinoff of the azvjc.org group as it seems there are some common members.

The AZOHVC was created with a Share Trails ideology, and to bring all trail users together in the interest of maintaining access through political activism and education. Members include 4x4 clubs, ATV clubs, Dirt bikers, etc.

I was one of the charter representatives for the AZVJC, but one of the biggest challenges they have had has been getting the message out. I was just appointed Communications and PR Chairperson, so improving that situation is now my job!

She sounded like she really wants to make this org into a relevent representative for ALL outdoor enthusiasts without regard to their given sport or activity. Sounds cool to me. :26_7_2: :clapsmile

4x4 Trail Run & Clinic 2/23/08 Camp Verde AZ

AZOHVC hosted a "Free 4x4 Trail Run & Clinic" clinic in Camp Verde AZ.

I must say that Nena did an excellent job and IMO she has the right mix of personality to get events like this started off to a good start; informative, funny, and friendly. This wasn't a technical trail but it was a good way to introduce people to the sport. They handed out a packet and then discussed about various items of 4 wheeling like airing down, etiquette towards ranchers and miners and of course tread lightly. They also talked about the importance of knowing which trails require passes and which ones do not. The importance of water purity which means not doing your business close to a water source.

All in all it was a great way to get things rolling in the positive direction. Some of us who might know this information already and have wheeled before might be put off by this event as being too easy but I think you need to go into it with an open mind.

1. Meeting new people and possible new people that are just starting to use their 4x4.
2. Go as an ambassador for those getting into the sport.
3. Unite to keep our trails open.

From what I was hearing... they are planning to offer a clinic for ATV'ers as well in order band all off roader's together.

P.S. the land rover Defender was as new as new can get. The paint, plastic, roof top and chassis was immaculate like it came off the show room floor. For some odd reason I felt bad the Defender was defiled for the first time. It was that Clean and pristine. The paint even had a mirror finish.
