Why not just drive in forward. That is what I did on my cargo trailer because I had the door installed on the driver's side.

Yes I can see that. But if you back into most sites, your power/water should be on the driver side. Ideally with your setup that would be fine. I did the same with our trailer since I back into everything.
Right now the setup works just fine and I'm planning on just using what I got throughout the "winter" camping season. Once it starts getting too hot for it again I'll go back to boating season and do the swap.

Yep, driving it in forward is what I'll do for the remainder of this season. Only issue is that someone I camp with would like a bit more privacy and some of the spots would be more private if I angled the truck while backing in.

Anyways, next weekend I'm going to be jet ski camping, working on exact logistics now, but hammock and fixings are in my dry bag and I'm fueled up and ready to go.

Detroit hey?

Home town or just like the team?

Yes, driver side would mean your facing the neighbours door and table etc... Doesn't look like a lot of trees there for privacy.
Is this a typical campsite where you are or is this a KOA type site?
Huge Red Wings fan. Always have been; of course there are other teams I've liked for whatever reason, especially over the past couple years while the Wings were trash. I'm happy with the team so far. At the beginning of the season I was thinking they would be fighting Buffalo and Ottawa for the 5th, 6th or 7th spot.... but now I think they're definitely better than those teams and could capitalize on another team slipping and actually make the playoffs.

This particular site was less dense with trees but picked because it was across the road from good fishing lake so I had to make that compromise.

Yeah like you said with everyone else oriented the opposite way we would be facing our neighbors if we didn't drive in. Again it's a super minor issue and literally was not an issue for 3+ years. Just something I'd like to have sorted before next season.

I guess I can post these now that they're being fabbed up as we speak.

I collaborated with Grove Fabworks to build bed frame supports that incorporate brackets for the Leitner rack.

I also bought replacement bed bolts for all 6 bed bolts, with stainless steel tie downs for all of them. The new bed bolts with be hex head instead of torx bits like the factory ones. Later this week I should have time to cut away the factory bed liner from these bolts so it doesn't tear into the rest of the bed liner, and I have some cheap spray can liner for minor repairs.

I got promoted recently and will be taking on new responsibilities that will keep me pretty busy, at least early on, from working on and consequently posting on her for the last couple weeks of the year.

Since next week is going to be camping via jetski I decided to knock out a few things during lunch. Most of it was minor maintenance stuff, but one was a corrective maintenance. The "glove box" lid broke during a recent ride and would flap around, which is obviously no good for when you're hitting bigger chop.

Still waiting on a replacement gasket since I didn't order one thinking it came pre-installed on the lid part. Also going thru and replacing some rusted hardware.

Gasket should be in tomorrow and I'm running to hardware store after a meeting this afternoon.

Lid gasket and replacement hardware arrived so I got the ski back together and washed it down. Ended up getting under it to inspect the intake and a few other things. No issues, a bit more scratched that I would have thought but no nicks or gouges so I am pretty happy with that.

Had a bit of time and wanted to get some other stuff knocked out so I changed out the power steering fluid filter with a big version (all the same specs otherwise). Took about a quart and a half of MERCON LV to fill the new filter and the reservoir. Drove it around the block to purge the air in the system.

Then removed the factory bed bolts and added some new hardware along with tie downs. I only did the ones closest to the tailgate today as I'll have to do those anyways for the bed stiffeners. The rest I'll knock out tomorrow or early next week.

Were the OEM bolts hex head or torx head? Mine are torx and they are starting to wear and rust. I will probably need to get a new set given I use four of the six to mount my camper.

Factory were torx T50. I have the [replacement] bolt spec for you, I just need to get home for the packing slip from bolt depot.

You'll probably need a long pry bar too, though that is probably more due to the fact the factory bed liner held them in a bit.

I'll update this post when I get those part numbers for you.

The Factory Bolts are 12mm x 1.75mm x 100mm
