TOTAL CHAOS Upper Control Arms
Elka Suspension 2.5s Front & Rear w/ High and Low-speed compression adjustment
Toytec Block in the Rear
Firestone Ride-Rite airbags

Here is almost the exact same setup (without the airbags)

No issues with the CV boots

Thanks.

Is there a general consensus among Tundra owners on when aftermarket upper control arms are needed (at a certain lift height)?

Not totally sure on the newer generations of Tundra, but on the 1st gen you will need new upper control arms if you put any sort of coilovers in that allow more droop. Otherwise the UCA will likely sustain damage and/or the upper ball joint will fail. I don't think it necessarily has to do with lift height. It's probably a good idea to get them anyways for a number of reasons.

Using aftermarket uniball UCA's allows you to take advantage of the increased range of travel offered by coilovers, and will be stronger than the stock UBJ's. Plus I believe in most cases they increase the caster beyond what you can obtain by stock, which is supposed to allow more control while turning.

I love my Camburg UCA's. Never had any noise from them at all, and they have allowed me far more wheel travel than stock. And if I can install them, anyone can.

Upper Control Arms are recommended once you hit 2"-3" of lift. Wandering or darting of the vehicle can occur with too much lift and stock UCAs. The TOTAL CHAOS ones are designed for lifted applications and allows the suspension to align easily and also increases ride quality.

Note: UCA's are a requirement on extended travel coil over shocks. As stated above, running the stock UCA will strain the ball joint and lead to failure.

Been running TOTAL CHAOS since 2012 and wouldn't ever go with anyone else :)

Some people go up to 3", but that is just stupid. If you want good suspension performance and caster, stick to <2". 1.5" is pretty much the sweet spot and is also the amount of lift the TRD Pro has. I'd keep it under 2" even with UCAs.

Picked up some skid plates from TOTAL CHAOS while I'm in SoCal

Keeps the belly protected and the skids are nice and smooth

Nice! I have a combo of a bud built and pp engineering. Mine stops just before the transfer case as well. You have any worries of damaging yours?

Not worried about it. Don't plan on dragging the truck across rocks

Been a customer of TOTAL CHAOS since 2012 and recently stopped by for a visit. While I was picking up my skid plates I talked with Nicole about something cool for Overlanders and Adventure-Campers. I am full-timing out of my Raven Four Wheel Campers and am currently spending time in SoCal. Anyone who flags me down gets a FREE TC Patch. Thought this might be fun for those who spend some time in the dirt and collect patches

Note: One per location

Hint: Look for the reflective TOTAL CHAOS decal on the back door of the FWC
