Batteries for portable pack

Hey Kyle,

This is Morgan at Equipt, I believe you were emailing me yesterday about your solar integration

I plan on running the 115AH Fullriver DC Series group 31, the DC115-12 I believe. If I go with something more affordable, we were recommended on good authority, the O'Reilly's Super Start Heavy Duty/Fleet Group 31 Deep Cycle.

For Lithium, we're running a Lion Energy Group 24 105AH in our 60 Series with the DC25 Power Pack, smaller and lighter than most Group 31s with equivalent amp hours. In cold climates, I'd run the heated Battleborn Group 31.

Get a 10a battery charge to fully charge the battery when the vehicle is not in use.

This is my $.02.

Hey Morgan!.... indeed we were chatting yesterday about all of this! I decided to go ahead and just bite the bullet and get the Battle Born Heated battery as its on sale now actually, just for peace of mind and that 10 year warranty should take care of anything.

10a charger as well?... this vehicle is also my daily driver so it'll be driven multiple times a week and rarely will be sitting for extended periods of time

I've also settled on Renology 200w solar kit as that fits the footprint that i have available on the roofrack so I'll be reaching out to get the appropriate andersen connector very soon

Unless you are driving for many hours a day, every day, the battery won't really get 100% charged. It would be best to keep a shore charger on it overnight (at least once a week or so) to make sure it gets fully topped up - similar to how you probably leave your phone plugged in all night even though it will show "full charge" after only a couple hours. Something like this from Noco would work well. A good AC charger will keep the battery conditioned much better than an alternator will.

Battle Born batteries are by no means cheap but made in Nevada and it's hard to beat a 10 year warranty!

Good luck!

I was thinking of a 10a charger if you went AGM specifically, a good way to top off an AGM if the vehicle isn't driven consistently.

The BB lithium will treat you well.

Stay in touch!
