Battery Poll

I have several vehicles and have possibly bought my last optima. I have abused them a little but seen no real performance advantage over any other cheap battery long term.....

I have had 2 redtops and 1 yellow fail within 2-3 years of purchase. I do have a redtop in my ZR-2 that is now 4yrs old and working fine. The only difference is it has never been discharged. I only discharged the other redtops a couple times though. The yellow top in my RV is already falling off quickly compared to last year..

Thanks for the info on other options.......

Just running a standard Optima Redtop here. Got it just about 6 years ago as a factory second (such are the benefits of working not from the Optima plant in beautiful Aurora, CO). Can't complain, it works and is arguably amongst the best $80 I've spent on my truck. I don't have a winch, booming stereo or anything. I do abuse it temperature-wise, leaving it parked at trailheads in the winter for a couple days at a time. But deep cycle-wise, I occasionally leave the truck off for a couple of hours with a radio on, be it a ham or regular audio one. That's about it.

No offense to anyone, as people are very particular to their bats (as some are with tires), but i wouldnt even consider putting an Optima in my rig!

I have had 3 fail in 2 years (2 reds, 1 yellow) on my old Jeep, replaced it with an old Die Hard gold from sears and it is still in the rig to this day running fine 5+ years later! Sold it to a good friend of mine and when this topic gets brought up i ask him about the bat!

Again, everyone has their own experience with them, some love them, some hate them, i am one of the haters! :shakin:

I now run dual Group 27 Lifelines that i am constantly draining with a fridge, inverter, and DVD Projector (no, thats not a typo) and love em!
