Bed solutions for Ford E250 Vans

ArcticBus

Observer
After my last issue with the dodge van I have switched vans. I have seen some builds and I am looking at alot of feeds, and still searching . But
Im wondering how people built futons into the back of their vans that slide from couch to bed. ANY ideas or tips will work 94 E250 is the current target van

Thanks

You can source parts, ie brackets, from a VW Vanagon and then remake the sub-frame to fit your application. I had one that I was going to use in my Sprinter but ended up with what I have now and gave the parts to COLE :sombrero:

There are a couple of sources of supply. The 1st one I would suggest would be http://www.discountvantruck.com/rvvanseating/vanseats.htm. You can order in custom lengths from these guys to suit what you need. They are fairly comfortable.

I have also used an IKEA futon. I am not sure they have the exact model here in the USA but it is worth a trip to their store and checkout the mechanisms. The last one I got was only $179 AUD and it was relatively easy to shorten the base to suit the rig. It will probably end up costing me as much if not more to shorten the cover but it is a work of art turning from a sofa cover to a mattress protector.

Now all of mine have been inside ambulance boxes so I have more room to play with so your requirements may vary.

makes me wish we had an ikea here. Thats pretty much what Im looking for something that can stow away as a bench . then bed

Check out a Lucid folding mattress. Fold it up during the day, and place it however you want at night. Put some yoga matts on the floor and sit on them. No need for a bench at all. You're probably outside most of the day anyway.

Do people lounge on their bench seats during the day?

Maybe camping cots are all you need?
I'd stick with the extended vans if you don't mind the extra length when parking or in town driving. You'll like the extra room.
I had an extended GMC and I put a second bench seat in it (3rd row from a Yukon) that folded down quite low. You could easily have a bed drop down from the side wall over top of the folded bench.
Kept my dirtbike and gear in it all summer and always had room to haul my 3 kids because the Yukon seats have integrated seat belts.

I asked my wife for her input on a bed solution for my Ambo conversion. She said Holiday Inn.

Women have no imagination....
