The de-tapifying, reassemblification process has commencetuded! Should be able to show some decent pics by Friday, keeping in mind I still need to do the bottom blackout. Haven't quite made up my mind how I'm going to do that so I'm taking a pass for the moment.

Btw, that blue painters tape, the Goldy Locks kind that doesn't stick too soft or too hard but just right? Apparently that only applies if you don't leave it in place overnight because that crap was UN-freakin-interested in coming off today. And when I could get a strip balled up in my hand it didn't want to leave. It was like that booger you can't get rid of. The kind that just sticks to whatever finger you're trying to flick it with till you get fed up, take that quick sneaky look around, and then scrape it off on something while nobodies looking.

Good news though! Almost forgot, but it seems all my ghosting is gone, so either my last desperation coat worked or it cured out. Don't care, it's gone.

Tom, what did you finally decide about the compartment door jams? Did they get painted in the process, just get some over-spray, or did you tape them off so they will remain white?

The blue painters tape becomes tough to remove after a few days. Automotive grade masking tape is MUCH better, and solvent resistant. For any visible paint lines I strongly prefer it. It isn't that expensive through your local body supply or Amazon.

With the bedliners it is important to remove the masking when the coating is still a bit soft. Waiting too long can make the tape lines rough, or worse tear the coating. Obviously this is material dependent though.

Some of the streaking that shows up during the spraying is due to the coating changing sheen as it dries. I am glad yours turned out well. I think you will like the "I dont care its bedliner" mentality. No more worries about D-bags in the parking lot for example. :sombrero:

Didn't worry about the jams. I would have had to seal off every compartment to keep from over spraying the inside, and while it may have been the amateur thing to do, I was up to my eyeballs with taping.

I figure you can get some enamel color matched to your bedliner for cheap. Then just do a bit of brush application to get the jambs color matched at a later date.

Actually had to work today so not much progress to show. I got the rest of the tape pulled (I bought it at an automotive paint supply) and it was still a bugger, except for anything stainless steel. No problem pulling off that. A bit snug but not too bad. Anything else it was stuck to it was planning on staying awhile. Go figure.

Started re-installing lights and I've noticed how shabby they really are. The scene and flasher lights not so much but man my headlight housings, clearance, turn/brake/marker lights are SAD. Need to figure a way to update these without breaking the bank.

Come to think of it I've got 6 empty-ish bottles of that Raptor liner that had some leftover in the bottom, but not enough for the tube on the shutz gun to suck out. I poured in just a bit of thinner and gave them all a shake to clean off the sides. Part of the process was adding hardener to the mix so the stuff may have set up anyway, but if it didn't I'm betting I've enough leftover to brush up everything that could use it.

That is pretty much what I was thinking also, and that's why I asked.

Back on the road! Oh, and no joy on the leftover Raptor Liner. Even with the thinner in it and sealed up in the bottles it set up like Jello. I've got 1 litre extra that i haven't tapped into yet, so push comes to shove I can mix up some of that to use, or I can continue with my current attitude of "don't really give a fark".

Mmm, nice. I kinda want to throw something at it, just so I can watch it bound off the bedlinder. :coffeedrink:

Now, you can disappear in the desert. Oh wait! There aren't any deserts in Ohio... :arabia:

Looks good Tom! :clapsmile
