Other than Craigslist and the classified section of this forum, where else should I look for used truck campers and/or "off road" trailers?

Thanks!

Four Wheel Campers in Jackson Hole had been good in the past for FWC. Wanderthewest.com had some. @usedfourwheelcampers on Facebook and Instagram. Otherwise stalk craigslist and Facebook marketplace until you get lucky. Talk to owners if you see one. My buddy scored his FWC from an older gentleman that bought it and used it one night in 2 year. The guys wife hated it and he never got around to selling it until someone asked!

I have been looking without much luck. Every ad that is remotely reasonable ends up being an they forgot to remove. There are idiots on fwc fb who think $10000 over msrp on a 5 year old is a great deal

Anything cheap by today’s standards will sell fast. Not many are used to or accepting of today’s standards. The current market will leave the tire kicking crowd behind, lots of other buyers out there.

A new FWC is a hell of a lot kore money new today than it was five years ago and with wait times still being 7 months, used prices are what they are. Kind of like a 5 year old Toyotas.

I know it’s not a great time to buy in the used market right now, and I’ll be ready to act fast. Thanks for the input. I’m mostly looking for ideas regarding sites or forums I’m not aware of. For example, I had never heard of Expedition Portal a few months ago.

I’m willing to travel, so I’ll continue to look on this forum and on CL in other places around the southwest.

Search Tempest is how I found my Alaskan on Craigslist in Portland, OR. It worked really well.

WTW is another good resource, especially if you enable email notifications of campers for sale. I still receive several a day because I’m too lazy to disable them.

Op, when you find something you're interested in on CL top right of the
Post reads how many days its been posted . You'll find many that believe
Theirs camper is special so it's worth some ignorant price that have been for
Sale for a while.
Like SOME small trucks sellers think that they are special so they inflate their values
Just because people are willing to throw their money away on COOLNESS.
Most of the new rv,truck campers to and fivers are built like they were 20 years ago..
Like crap.
If you're going to hold out on looking for quality your wasting your time and money.
Don't be fooled.
Good luck

What would you suggest then? Not buying at all?

I'm looking for something like a Hallmark pop-up, a FWC, Camp-X, or maybe a Boreas XT if I go the trailer route.

I'm not suggesting you do anything other than don't get caught up in quality hype.
Though the several you listed here are better than most you're going to pay
Way over what they are worth..imho
I find it humorous when a seller says ' you know the new bla bla campers are x amount ' , so what I say.
If some of these over valued rigs are so good, why are they selling them...
Because there are foolish people that are willing to throw their money away and the sellers know it.

Check everywhere and check often and be prepared to act quickly and travel if need be, if you want a good deal as things move fast. Some things are still priced at a premium and you don't have to jump on it as quickly. When I was considering a Hallmark last summer Colorado seemed to have many more for sale than anywhere else.
