Best place to order OEM LR3 keys

I have one key that made its way through the washing machine (no longer works) and my other has the rubber housing deteriorated.

Where is the best place to order OEM keys so I can program my new keys with the IID tool?

Thanks

You can program the remote to lock/unlock the doors with the GAP tool, but it can't program an immobilizer chip to start your car. In other words, the programming to make the key work in your ignition can only be done at the factory.

Okay, not the answer I wanted to hear but the right answer. Thanks so much. I'll get online to get some keys ordered factory style.

Isn't the immobilizer "key" in the blade of the key itself?

Victory you still have the key, it's just shot to bits right? You don't need new key, you need a key housing. Then you can use your GAP to train it to be keyless.

Try something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-OF-2-Land-Rover-Key-Keyless-Entry-Fob-OEM-15K6014CFFTXA-NT8-15K6014CFFTXA-/291575170593?hash=item43e33c0621:g:9YsAAOSwHjNWCBKz&vxp=mtr. Then swap the key blade.

That should work.:ylsmoke:

Yes I have two keys. One works fine, the other went through the wash and I tried to dry it out but nothing. If I can take the key apart and use the blade or whatever parts are useable I surely will. I figured if the key didn't work, it was completely junk for all electronics.

Ian... that won't work, just delete that url...

You need to order the key through the dealer. After that it needs to be paired to the vehicle. All keys need to be present at that point. Then some IID tools can pair it to the vehicle. I tried the key with electronics from some crook in California and it didn't work, shipped back and they claimed they didn't get it back, after I provided proof of delivery, I never heard from them again.... I email them every year. Once it's been factory setup for a vehicle, it can't be installed on a different vehicle (that would kind of defeat the point).

Save yourself a bit of hassle...
1. Order key from a dealer
2. Let them pair it to your vehicle, maybe the gap tool will do the pairing if you have one.

I don't see it specifically mentioned on the GAP site... so you'll need to inquire if you have one.

Sounds like the safest bet and probably easiest. I have enough problems right now not needing to deal with two bad keys. lol. Better get this one fixed before I'm out of keys.

Yes it has to be a new key. Gap tool used for remote program and to pair all my keys at the same time to the ignition. Its exactly what the dealer will do for 120 dollars.

When you say "program and pair a new key", what exactly do you mean? Did you have to do something with the IID tool beyond making the remote door lock/unlock work with the car? Would the key start the car before you programmed it?

I think the long and short of it is that you have to purchase a new key at the dealer. The IID tool won't let you buy any old key off of ebay, have it cut and then program it to the car. That simply won't work. Also, any key that has been previously programmed to an LR3 will not work on any other LR3.
