Hey guys. Just found this Website when I was searching the internet one day for rooftop tents and you guys have opened up a new world to me. I love 4wheeling and camping!
My GF has a 00 4 door XJ and I was curiouse what the largest tire is she should do stock 235/255...? and what tire is the best for good in the snow and all around good All terrain for her. I sport a Rather stock YJ in the Central PA area. I'd love to do more wheeling but don't know where publically I can take my jeep other than going to Rousch creek! Thanks guys and here are some photos.
I'm fresh out of Automotive school with student loans and work at a Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep Dealer in Mechanicsburg Pa as a Service Advisor!

Yea haha, I just wanted to make sure that was the smart decision for her Jeep. Now what do you guys think is the Max tire size I should run on her stock jeep. 235/75 R15 ...? Curious what you think would be best. And I love them, my second set of BF G t/a KO's!
Thanks again guys.

Yea I was also considering that and wanted to know everyones thoughts on them also. I have only ever had Dunlop Mud Rovers, and BF G T/A KO's.
The four tires I was considering where
General Grabbers AT2(cheap tires, not really likeing)
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac
The BFG T/A Ko
or also
Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revo

Thank you for all your inputso far! :wings:

BFG A/Ts like everyone is saying is a pretty good choice because they will do their job quite well on the trail yet are still polite enough on pavement. If you think you might want something a little more aggressive, I run Maxxis Bighorn MTs on my XJ and probably 85% of my driving is highway and they do really well. When I do go off the tarmac they do an excellent job and keep a grip on everything I want to roll over.

I think the stock Cherokee tire size is about a 28 inch height and around 8-9 inches wide, so pretty close to a 235-75-15. If you wanted to do a budget lift (less than $150 usually) and add new leaf shackles and coil spacers you would be able to fit an extra inch or two of height under there easy.

30x9.5 is the biggest you can go, I ran these on my 2000 XJ a few years ago. They were pretty close to touching when in the woods but never did, they were an at tire tho. I dislike the bfg at's, they are great at first but after a few miles I hated them. The rubber was to hard, they lasted for ever but traction was horrible especially snow traction. I recenty ran a set of revo's and really liked them but they were pricey.

Yea we were thinking about doing a small lift on her jeep. I really wanted to do 31"s under it but it seems like I'll need about a 2 1/2" lift for that... Let me know what budget lift you guys suggest and keep the thoughts rolling on the tires. Thanks again everyone for all your Input!!!

I haven't seen to many YJ's on here... Hope to see more and also. Is anyone from my area at all.. PA, NC, Virginia, WV, NY, ML, anything like that. wondering what is close to PA for a cool expedition camping trip!

I really like my Kevlar MTR's in mud, sand, rocks and all but I have not been in any snow......thats that white stuff, right??? Anyway, they are wearing good so far and have not given me any troubles.

Her bolt patter should be the same, put the budget boost on hers XJ and then try your wheels and tires to see if they fit, if not, go to the 30x9.50's

the 30x9.5's will fit under a stock XJ but they do look pretty big. I think a BB and the 30's would make it look more proportional. I had the 30" tire and wheel package from my TJ on my XJ. Like I said, they fit but just barely. I believe the stock tire size on the XJ is a 225/75, a 235/75 would be a nice step up as well. The next step up from the BB would be a 3.5" full suspension lift which should make plenty of room for 31" tires or a tight fit for 32's.

That is very true, Thanks for that idea. I'll have to try that budget boost... Should I get one from Rough Country or who would you guys suggest. and will new struts be needed and so fourth... Thanks again for everyones input!
