Best Trailer mounted RTT with Annex for cots

Hi all - I know its pretty specific, but I'm building up an expedition trailer (just started) but already have the trailer and lid so next step is a nice RTT. I'm looking for something that is easy to setup, durable, can handle some rough weather (both hot and cold) as we do a lot of sierra nevada (cold/rainy) and high dessert and beach windy and summer hot camping. I mostly go with my boys and now my teenage son may bring a friend now and then. My usual camp setup is nice canvas tent big enough to use cots (to give that man bubble space), so trying to get the same functionality out of a RTT setup. We also do short 1 day trips, so def want an easy setup and not have to build a huge campsite requiring tons of poles and stakedowns, etc. I'm willing to spend the money for the right setup (within reason). Definitely would love some advice on rtt's that may fit that bill.

Thanks,
JD

Hi JD: I have an ARB Simpson III with an annex. I have it mounted so it opens off the back. With the annex attached, I can just fit two 76" cots, one on each side of the ladder; one has a swing-out tire over it so it's tight. I've never used this scenario but played with my camping stuff to check that it would work. This annex does not have a floor; my preference as I am not worrying about dirt being brought in on boots and little feet. Height is the biggest issue with using an annex on a trailer; my truck is about 6'4" from ground to the base of my RTT so the annex hangs the same height.

Have you looked at the Oztent?

Eezi-Awn GlobeTrotter or GlobeTracker. I owned the former with a trailer and loved it. Check Out Paul May and Equipt1 for those tents.
