best way to carry jerry cans?

After reading the thread title, my smart @$$ side said "by the handles", but I'd say safest/best is in a bumper swing-out.

I have transported mine laying flat and on the skinny side. I use the blitz cans, their overall weak point it the cap. I call Midwest and have them send me spares for free.
