BFG MT's on trailer

Has anyone put BFG MT's on a trailer? I am looking at eventually standardising the tires on the truck and trailer plus the spares. I know the truck would be fine but I am not sure how well the trailer would handle with the MT's. I always have the option to go to AT's on both or just the trailer as well but my OCD nature would like to see them all the same. Any opinions?

Additional info: The trailer is a Conqueror Compact and the size under consideration is 235/85-16.

Thanks
Jason

only draw back with a mudder is in that...

they require a little wheel spin to clean the tread out...
not gonna happen with a trailer...

meh... likely an issue with any tire... that has a deep tread.

But I can understand and makes reasonable sense to match the trailer's tires/wheels to the rig.

btw... the best way to find your answer... is...

to just do it !! ;)

I have Interco TrxUs MT's on both truck and trailer, works fine for me. The two can share tires/wheels/spares.

Yes, I got new BFG KM2s all around a few months back. Went with the 255/85 R16 skinnies. I like their looks and performance on the truck and the skinnies help keep things narrow on the trailer, too.

On a M101 CDN, the 33" tire is as big as will work, unless you do a SOA. I do lots of mountain stuff, so like to keep things low, too.

My M100 currently has 15" AR Baja wheels and BFG MTs, that matched the PO's Jeep. I'd like to switch them out (that's mostly aesthetics), but they are still like brand new and probably will be for years. I don't notice any issues towing with those tires, but I've never had anything else on it to compare.

It would be nice to get wheels and tires that can be swapped with my Disco, since that's what usually tows it. We've also got an XJ and getting it to match that would be the simplest and most cost effective route. But for now, it can stay the way it is.

For the sake of similar tires as the tow vehicle so that you can use them as spares, it makes sense. However, you're obviously not getting any extra traction out of them and likely increasing rolling resistance somewhat. I've been told that going with an AT on a trailer is preferable to a MT.

Not totally true in my opinion. On a slick side hill, I want the same tires thats on my vehicle on my trailer for the simple fact that it will have similar traction to the vehicle. If the vehicle has good side/sliding traction with an agressive MT, and you have a much less agressive AT or other tire on the trailer, it could get bad if the trailer decides to slide off the side of the hill.

Probably an unlikely (or very low probability) scenario, but we (I do atleast) plan for the unexpected when out on a tough trail.

I also have BFG KM2s on my trailer. They work fine, but I think the main benefit is commonality for the spare.

I have always matched the trailer tire to the truck. It has several benifits, same spare, better traction, looks good (sorry, but it's always importent to look good when you can) Currently running KM2's in a metric 35. One really nice thing I like, how long my tires last. With buying 4 tires for the rig, 2 for the trailer and a spare for a total of 7 tires it can get expensive. I bought 1 more tire and wheel so I have 8. Since I use the trailer roughly half as much as the truck (parked at camp while I explore and such), I can rotoate the tires all around (trailer and spares to the truck, truck tires to trailer and spares) I won't have to buy tire for a long long time.
