Tony did you take into account the fact of having larger tires? I actually add about 8-10% to my mileage to get a more accurate reading.

Gas prices are exactly why I filled up in San Antonio last year THEN put Stormy on the trailer.

I think I did, but I wasn't sure how much to add. Based on the odometer readings (I'm sure this is off) and dividing that into the # of gallons at the next fill I got closer to 10mpg.

Now, my speedometer is off by about 8% compared to my GPS. So, I figure if I add, just as you suggested, 8-10% to my caclulations, that should be closer. So, that's why I stated 10-11mpg.

Without the trailer, I averaged 15-16 +/- all the way home from the Trophy event this last year. That's what I was using as a comparison.

I think I've determined that there were 2 drive gear ratios offered in the genIII Monteros. 4.3 and 4.9. According to the OEM manual, the 5 speed (mine) came with 4.3's and the 4 speed came with 4.9's. So, I'm thinking that swapping to the 4.9's might be the ticket here.

It would definitely help!

I'm planning a trip to Arkansas in June and will probably be running on 31's or 32's to help mileage. May look goofy with a BL but who cares.
