Big Horn Ram in the Studio

This guy struts around this certain area in Yellowstone where you're approaching the Lamar Valley and I can never pass by without stopping to get a few shots.

This time I was rewarded with lighting that I would be hard to reproduce if I had the big stud in a Studio with me.

Luckily this day I was out, it was raining off and on so there werent too many other photographers around. I waited long enough that the big stud got bored with the cameras pointed at him and he decided that holding those massive horns up was too much.

He finally laid down and took a nap in the tall grass

Wow, those shots are amazing. You we so fortunate to have such a great opportunity. I especially love the one where the ram is laying down.

Being as I never went to college, I had to Google the word Scrimshaw to even figure out what it meant...LOL

Once I did, I now know exactly what you're talking about, just never knew it had a specific name.

Thank you tremendously for the compliments on the photography. I agree, there are some top notch photog's on this site. Funny thing is it isnt even a photography specific site.

Shoot me a PM and we can talk about prices or rights on images you'd be interested in. We are going to be here for the next 5 months, so something tells me by the end of fall, I'll have my own little stock photography site going on wildlife:victory:

Thanks again for all the comments.

.

The first one is fantastic. Wasn't this site started by a photog? I think that an expedition vehicle goes hand in hand with wildlife/nature photography. People start out doing one, and get drawn into the other. For me, natural history photography has been my passion since I was 14 years old. About a year ago I decided to begin a mission to construct the ultimate photography vehicle. Since then I have spend hours and hours researching what would work for me. I found this site, and it only fueled the fire.

Thanks again, and Matt you're exactly right! Photography and Exploration do go hand in hand.

It's hard to have one without the other and be good at either
