I was one of the reviewers in that test. I wouldn't say it was half-hearted at all.

FYI, cots will eventually destroy the tent floor. Maybe even on the first outing.

My wife uses a cot when we go camping and I put 4" X 4" pieces of carpet under the legs to save the tent floor.

The Timberline tent I mentioned above is a pretty robust tent and very easy to setup, it just didn't to to well under very windy conditions, although it never failed or fell down, I did have several poles get bent.

tennis ball cut a X slit for cot feet is also supposed to be a good thing to save floors if you have those kinda cot feet :) along with a floor saver

I am kinda a fan of tub type floors thick PVC stuff you find on the South African and OZ tents and a few domestic but they are usually canvas tents

If it wasn't for the 3-season need I would wholeheartedly suggest a Eureka Copper Canyon, they are immensely roomy for the footprint. I have a Copper Canyon 10. I am 6'3" and can stand upright in pretty much the entire tent. But I would not call them 3-season tents.
