On the lot:

I brought it home and "de-modded" it to my taste so far. I took the chrome side steps off, the bug deflector, and the bowtie running boards.

The new rig goes nicely with the old truck my 1936 Chevy.

A small lift is in the works and I am trying to decide what I am going to do with the wheels and tires.

I want to accomplish all the projects I never got to finish with my old ZR2:

New shocks!! KYB Monomax.

I gained about 1/2" of height in front with the new stiffer shocks.

Old front shocks were completely worn out. They had no rebound left in them. One rebounded after about an hour of sitting there.
The rears still had some life left but not much.

I almost went with bilsteins but when comparing price and performance reviews i decided to try the KYB Monomax instead. I am very happy with them so far. They are stiffer but compliant and the body sway, nose dive and general bounciness is gone.

I ordered a new set of wheels and tires. Ups says they willbe here monday. More to follow.....

New wheels and tires!!!!!!!!

General Grabber P265/70-17 LT's are too stiff for me.
MB wheels 352 17x9 with -12 mm offset. = perfect offset on this truck!

So these wheels and tires weight 67 pounds each. The old GM VHO 20" wheels and michelin tires weighed 82 pounds each. 15 pounds saved on each corner. I can feel the difference around town and accelerating up to 65. Really happy with this change.

The RPO code "Z71" exists on the build sheet but no decals on the bedsides. I prefer it that way but it needed something.

Brakes!

My brakes were pulsing since I bought the truck. I had the rear drums turned and replaced the rotors.

Stops great! Nice and smooth with less fade over the mountain.

Thanks. I love it so far. A step back in technology and refinement but a step forward in reliability and ease of maintenance/repair.
