Love the pics "in the wild"....

I'm guessing that picture of you with your ams in the air is the "money shot"....and hopefully for the KK calender next month...:ylsmoke:

"and here we have Brad, Mr. December,of Arizona, LTD'n (livin' the dream) it, in front of his beautiful new KK..."

 (it may appear to be beer...but it's a mug of MM)

Great trip Brad! Looking foward to the next one. We had fun. Cheers!

Obviously Brad likes to hang with "fast company"...:ylsmoke:

Just a quick question on braking Brad...how was it coming down the loose stuff...did you manage the braking, or let the controller handle it all?

Thanks

p.s. ...just keep on eye on your MM with ol' Splitty around!

The new Prodigy P2 brake controller did an amazing job. I turned the overall power down when I left the pavement and tested it on flat dirt to be sure I was adjusted just below locking the trailer brakes at maximum braking. From there I never had to touch it. The P2 has a triple axis sensing so it adjusts the braking power if you are going up hill or down. Even on the loose shale I was able to bring everything to a stop without the trailer locking up and trying to pass me.

For anyone running a an electric over hydraulic disk brake set up I highly recommend the Prodigy P2.

Edit: I have had some questions about the electric over hydraulic braking system. Here's a bit more detail.

Your electric brake signal actuates a computer controlled hydraulic servo motor that generates hydraulic pressure driving normal disk brakes.

Here's the US based company that made my system for the Karavan: http://www.carlislebrake.com/products/trailer-brake-actuators/

Mine is the HydraStar 1200

Typically they are on heavy trailers and 5th wheels but they work extremely well for any trailer application.

Here is the website for the Prodigy P2 controller: http://www.tekonsha.com/content/products.aspx?lvl=3&parentid=0&catID=1435&part=90885

It also saves you a ton of money on underwear changes.

We just got back from trip up to Alstrom Point, Zion & Toroweap. It was a great trip and the Karavan worked perfectly. My wife was one happy Glamper. :wings:

Hi Pat,

If I had to pick something that I like the least it's the increased size and weight. My truck does a great job towing it but I am still getting used to Karavan's heavier weight and taller profile than my past Kamper. The Karavan is still very capable but it still freaks me out a bit when I see it tip sideways when driving over off road obstacles. When I look at a photo of the same angle it's really nothing and no where near being a problem but when I see it lean over in my rear view mirror it about gives me a heart attack.

What I like the most is the hard sided protection from the weather and the ease of set up and take down. On our recent trip the weather was nice enough and we were moving almost every day so I never set up the porch awning. That made breaking camp about a 20 minute piece of cake. At Toroweap the wind picked up around dinner time to around 30-40 mph. It was really nice to just cook dinner inside and eat at the table with the wind howling outside with no flapping canvas.:wings:

The road down to Toroweap is about 60 miles of dirt. Mostly graded with some washboard and tons of fine powder dust. Only the last couple miles get a little rocky and force you to slow down and pick your lines. We had the tires aired down on the truck and trailer so it sucked up that dirt road cruising around 45 mph. It was a dream to tow in those conditions.

Oh yeah and the other thing I love is the electric over hydraulic brake system. Once adjusted for the road conditions it controls the trailer perfectly.

That is a great looking trailer. I enjoy the build and seeing you get use out of your trailer. However it is a toss up for me as to what is more incredible, the quality of trailer or the quality of the incredible pictures you take. I can be surrounded by similar scenery and take a picture and it never translates. You have a true eye and definite skill to capture the picture as it needs to be.
