Blank white retirement canvas.. now what?

VanIsle_Greg

I think I need a bigger truck!
I bet! I was at the dealership a few weeks ago getting some work done on my wifes Van, and was looking at their stock of 2019's. Oh my... there was a Graphite 1500 LTD that was particularly amazing. I love the new 12" screen... and if I am going to get one of these trucks, that screen is mandatory. Air suspension too.

I like the white BTW, these look sharp in plain ole white. Its a good shape for it.

Ok.. A.R.E. MX midrise topper Arrived with 80” alurack installed.. It is awesome. The MX is not finished as nice as my Z series but is very nice, and I can sit up inside with the Decked drawers installed. I got the windoors on both sides which is very handy.

The rack is the ultimate.. can’t weigh more than 20 lbs and it allows me to load my kayak using the roller on the back. Gives me a lot of room up top as well. I’m pretty stoked!

it appears your conveyance is developing quite well

having room/space for your toys is paramount

as one who is ahead of you in this game i adopted a LOOP SYSTEM for achieving some of my quests

rather than trying to do it all in one fell swoop i cut my quest into smaller LOOPS and attacked them with greater vigor than would have been possible if it were all done at one time

and i do/did them like tightening the lug nuts on a wheel

going from one corner to an opposite corner to an opposite corner to an opposite corner...

by different routes when possible

there will be areas you wish to revisit summer winter spring n fall

BONNE CHANCE

That looks great. The wife and I purchased a 19 Crew Cab Big Horn as our retirement vehicle as well. I like the idea of an ARE for ours but the wife does not like the look.
FYI. There are currently 2 recalls on the 19's. A V04 and a V07 recall. One is for a battery cable and the other is for the adjustable pedals, if you have them.

Good luck with your build. We can't wait to hit the road.

Thanks for the heads up.. yeah, the battery cable was funny.. have not received the adjustable brake recall (and I have it) so keeping an eye out... happy trails!

T, thanks. I have a year before bailing. In the meantime, FL has a lot of really neat possibilities for shake downs and findin out what does, and does not work. The Keys, Ocala National Forest, Springs galore, Beach, etc. hopefully I’ll have it all worked out. I agree taking it a bite at a time is more manageable, and given everywhere I have lived/traveled.. I have a lot of “loops” to look forward to.

Well, interesting conversations with the wife have changed some directions.. she said, “you know if you had something with a bathroom I would go with you”. Wow, that’s a change! So...

Ask and you will receive.. if I head to the Keys with the boat, I can still sleep in the truck, but now I can go long distance with company and hang in comfort. It has 15” wheels and some clearance so can do dirt roads, etc. then I can drop the trailer and explore in the truck. This is the Winnebago Minnie Drop with welded aluminum cage all six sides.. tight and quiet.

I’m excited for the possible horizons, and if giving my wife a bathroom so she doesn’t have to go to the bathhouse (or bushes) in the middle of the night.. and have her along, it is worth every penny.

Tatanka48.. Amen! Str8t six, it is the Winnebago Minnie Drop 170s.. light weight (maybe 2400lb) very similar to the r-pod 180, and really well made. Came with a lift and 15” tires, a plus! And something even sweeter... HVAC! Living in FL this could really expand my camping,.. oztent rv4 anyone ?

Well, after a few months, I can say I really like the direction we went.. it works for us. Stayed a week up in St Augustine on the beach and a local state park at Salt Springs, and really enjoy the trailer. The lifted frame and 15” tires work well and keep the water and drain plumbing off the ground, it tows easily and is plenty of room for two. Air conditioning and screens mean a good nights sleep with no pests, and indoor plumbing means no 4am trips in the dark to the bathroom. Convenient for an ROF.

We will be taking a 3 week circuit from FL up to the boundary waters in MN back via TN to the coast and back down to give it the real workout around Labor Day.

I know it will not go “off-road” but it will do dirt and gravel all day long, so I’m not going to miss that much since I can always park the rig and go exploring with just the truck.. cheers all522245
