Bliss Mobil 8ft lifting roof debut at Abenteuer Allrad

Approved Vendor : Total Composites
That is a 79 Series LandCruiser, not an "FJ". Toyota designates engine "F" = 1F, 2F, 3F or 3FE, then J-Series Truck, then the model number, e.g. BJ-42, KZJ-120, FZJ-80, PZJ-76, BJ-60, etc. So a UZJ-100 = 2UZ-FE powered 100 Series LandCruiser with IFS. The 105-Series has a variant of the 80-Series solid front axle and would be referred to as a UZJ-105, if configured that way.

The 79 Series is generally diesel powered, likely by the venerable 1VD-FTE, so the truck would be sold as and referred to as a VDJ-79, not an "FJ". With a massive aftermarket supporting it, the engine can be tuned for 340 BHP and 600 foot-pounds of torque; the chassis can be extended by 300mm, up-rated to 4.2 tonne GVM and even converted to 6x6 with air-ride installed by JMACX. Would I do it? Nope. Will the 79 carry 3,000 pounds? Yessir.

An NPS, preferably a properly converted NPR, since the OEM version leaves much to be desired, would be a great platform for this box, preferably in the 109" or 132" wheelbase variants.

Finally, if you have never seen a box built by Bliss, Unicat or Action Mobil, you may think the product discussed above is just a box. It isn't. Total Composites is in a different Universe to this stuff. Habitats from the high-end manufacturers are damn near works of art.

100% agree with you on the craftsman ship and engineering with Bliss, Unicat and AM. Also totally different price point and business model. We filled a void for people that can’t swing a half million price tag.

No madness here, sir, just the facts. Would you be OK with me calling your OBS Ford, a Chevy or calling you Tonya if your name was Tony? The latter two are very close, but quite different.

So let me get this straight…. you know for a fact that the LC shown with the Bliss camper has this upgrade?

I have no knowledge of the chassis modifications. I said the 79 would take 3k if properly fitted.

I don't expect that a reputable manufacturer, such as Bliss Mobil is going to sell to a client or even display at a show, certainly not with EU regs, a 3,000 pound camper box on the 79 Series chassis it's sitting on if that chassis has a max payload of 1050 kg. Could they have done that for 'show and display purposes'? Sure, but the display would then be quite misleading. Hence my educated guess that said chassis has been extended, uprated, or both.

Thread took a turn 😅

The Landcruiser pictured was TÜV cert at 4.2 tons. Didn't think taking that photo was relevant hahaha. This LC79 also featured the new 2.8L diesel with auto transmission.

The camper was initially designed with side entry on a RAM 3500. The LC79 is a very popular chassis in Germany so it makes sense that bliss utilized it to showcase they're small offering.

Alot of the weight comes from Bliss use of a steel container type frame with twist locks. Another heavy item is the 8 linear actuators(4 for roof lift, 4 for bed.

Price is always subjective, but for those who want a low profile HARDSIDE camper this lifting roof camper will hopefully drive competition.
