Blog/Iphone & Netbook

Hi folks, what a fantastic forum, wish I'd found this long ago.

Anyway, I'm looking for advice about blogs and trip blogging on the move. I have an Iphone with various mapping/GPS/trip recording apps etc... and a netbook hooked up to a GPSr as well as various Garmin units that get used for different types of trip etc...

I have had a couple of half hearted attempts at blogging on the move, but never really been happy with the results. I also run a couple of apps that will record a gps track that can then be posted to a blog while mobile.

The app I like the most is MotionX GPS - it has a great interface with lots of different functions etc... It can also be shared to the likes of Facebook or to a blog by sending an email direct from the app. The big downside to it is the extra advertising of Motion X that also appears in the blog post making it look very cluttered.

What do you guys use? Both for a blog and for uploading recorded tracks etc... My current blogs are on Google Blogger, but it seems pretty limited in relation to some of the great blogs I've seen some of you producing.

The main reason for wanting to blog with the ability to keep a daily journal and drop a recorded track of each day, or part day, into the blog for the family etc... to be able to follow our progress day by day.

The other important bit is for it not to be too heavy on data usage while roaming as a lot of the route is overseas and with mobile data usage being expensive if you go over the monthly allowance, cost will become an issue. The 'phone contract I have has a monthly allowance of 500MB in home country (UK) and for £10 extra a month, 25MB per day.
this is the cheapest way for overseas roaming as the data dongle on the netbook will cost £8 per day for up to 100MB per day, and just isn't worth the cost for every day use, unless urgent internet access is needed.

Hardest part of this is finding an Iphone app that will post direct to a blog wirh an interactive map of the days recorded track.

If your blog uses Wordpress you can send an assortment of various files through the Wordpress App directly to your blog. I can post directly to my blog via iPhone on the move.

I'm a digital/web strategist by day so I get to deal with a lot of different systems. For my personal use, I went with the easiest: www.posterous.com. From their iPhone app you can upload photos, add text and geotag the post all directly from the app.

Depending on your theme and privacy settings, it will take the geotag from either the photo or the app and will add it to the full text of the post. Easiest iPhone workflow I have found.

Thanks for the input guys.

One of things I'd like to be able to do is send the recorded tracks from a couple of apps (they are sent via email to the blog email address) so that a map is visible in the blog post that the email creates. Presumably this works for all blog hosting methods.

All I need now is a Iphone app that will post a map showing the route or track that I've taken.
Quite like Motion GPX, but it doesn't seem to post properly, in fact, not at all!!

Not sure what the problem is but MotionX GPS shows any track that I want it too.

I can get MotionX to post to a Google Blogger blog, by sharing it via email to the blog email address. (Don't like the way it's post uses more space in the blog post as an advert for itself, than the space the track it's posting. If that makes sense?).

But, when I share it to Posterous, via the blog email address, it doesn't show up in the blog, for some reason.
