Blown engine 86' 300GD

I believe the oil pump went out according to my father who was on his way from Florida to Colorado. The Natural Aspirated diesel is now locked up . I am now contemplating a rebuild or replace, possibly with a turbo model any thoughts??

Sad that it happened, but there are a lot of good candidate motors out there. A turbo conversion would yield good returns, both operating and resale.

Sorry to hear that man but rest assured Running om617's are extremely plentiful in junk yards and cheap as well $250 here in socal.

om617's are beasts. Sure the timing chain didn't get caught?

Other than that, there are plenty of 240 and 300D's out there. Probably one of the most plentiful diesel engines around.

Bummer, yeah go for the turbo, they are well worth it in my opinion.

OM617A(turbo) from early '80s 300TD is what I would recommend upgrading to at this point.
