Has anyone installed this USB port by Blue Sea? I like the 2.1amps.

that looks great. did you find any available? would be perfect for charging phones and the like very cleanly. I also wonder if the data pins can be wired up to a radio or similar?

Wow thanks for that... I'm betting it's so new that it is not stocked yet...most links are showing not in stock, acting as a place holder.

I also saw they are going to offer the plug version as well for existing plugs.

Thanks again.

Don't forget you can get single Type-As for barely half that price. link

Or, go hardcore, and just order up the bare connectors for a buck apiece. link

As a side note, I just added 4 usb outlets to my rig (cell phones, ipod, gps, etc...) using a satallite radio 12v to 5v 2amp converter (all hidden in a box hardwired into my accessory line) and a simple computer usb hub. By far the best, most reliable method.

XM satellite radio 12v to 5v 2amp do-hicky:

And a tragus comptuer usb hub (not the exact model)(with power connection on side):

Works well, and provides enough amps to easily cover 4 power hungry usb devices. This method can be adapted to use any usb hub with a power connector on it.

I like the dual jack by BlueSea. I have seen rugged singles here in Canada and they make way more sense than the oem type loose jacks intended for fixed applications in non severe duty applications.

Personally I'd rather have a regular flush mount dual port adapter, allow other things to be plugged in.

One thing to look out for is that some companies call their dual port adapters "2 amp", but that is both combined. Higher draw items need 2 amp on a single socket which older items don't have.

I actually got one off Amazon before they were all gone. This unit is quite nice. Once again, a solid unit from Blue Sea. I am happy to say that it will not only charge an iPad, but it will charge an iPad and iPhone at the same time. This will be a welcome addition.
