boat fridge in a truck?

I see alot of these Norcold fridges on CL. Since we live close to water it seems people are always selling them. They are 12v/110v. Only downside i can see is its not a top open.

Has anyone tried one and is there any reason i couldnt run one of these? This one is 20x20x18.

I run a Waeco 110L 2-way (12Vv/120v) compressor fridge. Waeco lists it as a marine fridge. To do this I have a 90 watt solar panel w/ a SunSaver-6 solar controller and two 75 ah deep cycle AGM batteries. Works great. Some run a compressor fridge just on batteries assuming they will be moving every few days and recharge the batteries while driving.

Wow! A 110 liter !! I bot one and then returned it and got an 80 liter and a 25 liter

Anything that runs on 12 v should work. Unless u use something other than 12v...
I'm guessing its a wall mount or something?

Shouldn't be a problem. In fact, marine appliances are usually built/finished to a higher standard than RV appliances because of the harsher environment.

I have a stainless 6.8CF marine 12V fridge/freezer in my Airstream trailer. It has a Danfoss compressor. I did not like the 110v/propane fridge i had, but am delighted with the marine 12V -- I can run it while towing and keep my groceries fresh.

I use 4 6V AGM golf cart batteries in two banks - overkill, maybe, but I can run fridge, lights, furnace, etc. for days without firing up my genset. This unit does not draw more than about 4 amps at full cycle. It is nearly as efficient as the Engel in the Landcruiser.

For my F350, I recently ordered a National Luna stainless 52L fridge/freezer from Paul at Equipt. Looking forward to getting it fitted to the truck.
