Boom. The 2017 Ford Raptor has landed.

My thoughts:

- Doesn't look like a desert truck anymore. Just a big aggressive truck.
- 10 speed tranny...why?!?! I rarely go passed 3rd in the desert. I sure as hell don't want to shift more than i already do.
- not a fan of the eco-boost. I've heard several stories of people who've done ecoboost conversions and used their trucks in the desert. They have all gone through several turbos due to dust.
- Like that it's lighter
- like that it's a fresh look
- hate the tailgate. Would gladly swap it out for a stock f150 tailgate.

Overall, i'm very happy with the new Raptor. Why? Because I have no desire to trade in for it haha. I'm sure the look will grow on me but I love the current look.

And on the bent frames, if you offroad your truck hard in the desert there's no way around the fact you need a hydraulic bump stop kit. It doesn't matter how strong your frame is.

Hydraulics bumps would not help that dip**** in the video above. That would have broken the frame on a race quad flat landing like that. I like the new truck, but prefer the NA V8 to the complex V6.

+1 funny how no one ever notices that even STOCK race class trucks are generally caged front to back...

Pistol Pete does not seem to be having the greatest luck with the EcoBoost either, although according to my buddy who co-drove in the 1000, when it works its awesome. I get it though, big gas engines are going the way of the dodo in new cars. You just can't compete with a smaller turbo engine in terms of tail pipe and CAFE efficiency (which unfortunately has a bigger hand in dictating what we drive new). If being saddled with a turbo V6 is the price we have to pay for being able to buy a truck like that off a show room floor, I'm kind of OK with it. Besides, IMO a 6.2 is still a "small" engine :)

I wonder what upgrades they have done to the shocks?

I'm I the only one that thinks it's just a flat ugly truck. I feel there is a butt for every seat and mine stopped at pre 04 super duty but I just don't link the look of this truck.

you're not the only one. Personally I'm not interested in anything newer than the 91 brick nose body style, but to each their own.

I actually like the look. I don't mind the eco engine at all tbh, had nothing but good times and no issues with the 20k I put on mine so far. The only thing I'm waiting to hear back about is the $$$ tag, and MPG numbers, compared to its predecessor. As much as I'm hearing the current raptor owners deny it, if this thing gets 21+ MPG HW, the V8 rumble will become much less as important as the fuel range.

I just read about the new raptor and the v6. They said the only thing that is the same is the displacement . It has a new stronger block bigger better turbos . It also has direct port injection. It went on and on about how much different this 2nd Gen is different.
