Bosch Boxx + l-track

I scratched my head for a storage solution for quite some time. Lots of good ideas here.

I had a few Bosch Boxx containers and thought they would be great because they stack, there are multiple sizes, they are fairly durable, and there are options in terms of drawer units, top loading, etc. They aren't as expensive as Pelican cases, and not as inexpensive as Action Packers. They are not water resistant. I have about 8 of them now, and I suspect a couple more will allow me to pack almost all our gear in them.

What I needed was a way to secure the bottom one to my l-track in various spots. I figured I could have a very flexible system because I could affix the containers in various locations and then stack them a few high for a really slick system. I would put almost everything we needed in them, from camp gear, dog food, human food, compressor, even pack a couple dromedary bags in one for water.

I decided I would use and empty drawer unit as a base plate. It has height to clear my screw down l-track studs, and has the same mounting bracket as all of the Bosch Boxx system does.

Here is what I hacked up to test:

The real ones would use aluminum vs wood for the securing plate. I also had to attach some spacers underneath so it set flush on the track (which I will make flush later likely). It works like a charm and I can secure the base plate where ever I want. It's very secure and I figure can hold quite a bit of weight. I am going to rig a test this week where I drive around and see how well it holds during hard stops, etc. That said, I will likely put a tie down over the top of a stack just to be safe.

If my test works I will make a few more base plates. I am thinking I need 4 or 5 total.

Very smart. I have 20 linear feet of the l track in my 5' Tacoma bed. love this stuff. Did you purchase the threaded stud fitting for your demo / test?
