Yup, that land rover bottle jack is a nice little unit. You can probably pick one up in a junk yard or on line pretty cheap too. Must be made in Germany though because it's the only thing on my Rover that doesn't leak!

I have six LR bottle jacks. They are the bestest. $40-50 used is a fair price, but you can have one of mine when you pull it from my cold dead hands. :victory:

Bottle jacks are a great piece of recovery gear and is often overlooked and forgotten about. Like others have said, I carry a bottle jack and a few pieces of cribbing (wood blocks). It is safer and usually faster than a Hi-lift. I still carry a Hi-lift but the bottle jack is the go-to piece of recovery gear in my truck.

Thanks, I just bought one similiar to that. Plus I'm going to keep my stock one in the vehicle as a backup.

FYI:

On the subject of Bottle Jacks - the OEM Toyota bottle jacks (where you have to turn the knob to raise / lower the jack) are awesome when paired with a Gator-Grip socket, and cordless drill! I've used this trick more times that I can count. It's an amazing time / headache saver!

Another trick worth its weight in gold....

Cut a round jack base out of two layers of marine grade plywood and store it behind your spare tire. I usually use two layers because with one I tend to break through. Having it behind the spare tire is generally a good spot because if you need the jack base generally you need the spare tire.

The round jack base works great for either a high lift or bottle jack. You can even use one of the stud holes from the spare tire mount to bolt the hi-lift jack foot to the wood jack base. This keeps the hi-lift jack from sliding off the wood when things get slippery.

I am always looking for small nooks and crannies to store stuff in. Sometimes it hard to remember where you put stuff though
